Ltd.VAJDI(VAD),KALAWAD ROAD,RAJKOT(GUJARAT)HISTORYThe Flashback In 1974s three sons of a farmer in Dhundhoraji a remote village in Jamnagar district of Gujarat migrated to the nearest urban centre, Rajkot. With primary education in the rural setup and Rs. 20,000 as initial capital from their father, the Virani brothers (Bhikubhai,Chandubhai and Kanubhai) came to Rajkot in search of work. They had neither money nor references, also no prior background experience of any manufacturing industry.

HISTORYContinues..In 1974 Bhikhubhai and his brother Chandubhai took up jobs in Rajkots Astron Cinema Theatre selling refreshments. In 1976 the cinema owner Govindbhai handed over the canteen to them on contract basis due to their hard work & honesty.In 1982 the brothers decided to turn that into their core business.

HISTORYIn their quest of keeping a good mix of snacks in the canteen, they started sourcing wafers from the only supplier in Rajkot. They used to buy from him and act as a mediator. Along with this, they started selling toasted sandwiches which was made at home by their wives and used to be served fresh. Slowly they noticed that potato wafers constitute 80% of the refreshment sale but the supplier was not able to fulfill the demand. THE NEW VENTURE ESTABLISHMENT OF BALAJISo in the year 1982, this delay of supply of wafers from the supplier created an opportunity for the brothers to take a decision of setting up their own wafer manufacturing unit from home. They started selling wafers not only at the canteen but also to other areas in and around Rajkot. They packaged the wafers under the BRAND Name of

Day-by-day the directors of the company were thinking for development & implementing of new technology.So they decided to go for automation and in 1995-1996 the company installed the FIRST semi automatic plant with a capacity of 250kg potato chips per hour. The journey of success

At the time of startup there were lot of teething troubles faced by us. But patience,hardwork and courage were 3 factors that converted our efforts into success. The journey of successIn 1998-99 the capacity of first plant was working almost at the fullest.The demand generated was more than the production capacity.So in 1999 company took its second step of expansion resulting in installing Gujarat's FIRST fully automatic potato chips plant.At the same time company introduced three layer pouch packing with nitrogen flushing.

The journey of successIn 1999-2000 to meet the increasing demand, the company increased production capacity to 400kg. per hourIt is said that history repeats itself ,so in 2003 04 India's biggest & fully automatic plant with a capacity of 1200 kgs. per hour was commissioned in 1,50,000 sqr. Mtr. area at Vajdi Dist. Rajkot.(Gujarat)

The journey of successDuring the period 2000-2006 Balaji captured entire Gujarat with 90% market share in potato chips & 70% in namkeen.Simultaneously the markets in Mahrashtra & Rajasthan were also growing.This was made possible due to hard work of promoters, transparent company policies,excellent and strong network channel for distribution & last but not the least quality of our productsHowever all this would not have been possible without support from the Quality loving consumers.

The journey of successIn 2008, our new fully automatic plant with capacity to process 9000 kg. potatoes per hour for making 2000 kg. potato chips was commissioned in 1,50,000 square Meter area at Valsad, Gujarat.

In our channel of distribution we have dealers who were hawkers, rickshaw driver, sales man but with our proper guidance & their will to work now each person doing a business of Rs. 3 million to 8 million as our dealer.
