KABIR
Kabir is a famous 15th century mystic poet and a saint. He was born in a Muslim weaver family in Varanasi, India. He is believed to have lived from 1440 - 1518.
As a child, Kabir enjoyed going to
school and was greatly influenced by his teacher, Shri Ramananda. Even though he was a Muslim, his writings greatly influenced Hindus and Sikhs.
People like Kabir's poems because
they just have a happy feeling and it possesses many striking features. Kabir picks up poetry from our daily lives. He believed that the best way to worship God is from within. It does not matter what religion we follow, it is about how good a person we are. He believed that human beings are equal and are being one with the Gods.
Kabir's legacy is today carried forward by the Kabir Panth. The Kabir Panth is a community that recognizes and celebrates the life of Kabir and what he believed in.
Rabindranath Tagore compiled a collection of poems that Kabir wrote and translated them to English. This was published in 1915 as "Songs of Kabir"

SESHADRI SWAMIGAL
Seshadri Swamigal was born on January 22, 1870. One day, when he was 4 years old, Seshadri and his mother stopped at a shop full of bronze idols of the Gods. While at the shop, the young boy picked up a statue of Krishna and asked his mother to buy it so he could perform Krishna puja. The trader, thinking that the bright child himself resembled Lord Krishna, gave the idol and refused payment. The next day the trader said the boy to be most lucky. As the whole load of 1,000 statues (because of the young boy's touch), had been sold in one day. News of the incident spread quickly through the town and from that moment on the young boy was known as "Thanga Kai", 'The one with the golden hand'.
At the age of 19, he met Sri Balaji Swamigal, a wandering saint from North India, who gave Seshadri sanyas and instructed him in the Mahavakyas. Throughout his life and teachings Sri Seshadri continuously emphasized the glory of Arunachala. He often talked about the unique aspects of the Arunachala kshethra. He would say: 'This is the place where Swamy and Ambal invite all and confer liberation', and 'Lord Krishna leaving aside his sudarshana chakra (divine weapon) is playing on his flute. On hearing it Lord Shiva who is inside the mountain comes out and dances'.
