A TEST FOR THE   SON

Once Dharmadev decided to test his son Ghanshyam. He

asked for a small stool from Bhaktimata and covered it with a

silk cloth. He placed a gold coin, a book, and a small sword

on the stool. Bhaktimata and Dharmadev waited near the stool

to see what Ghanshyam would pick. Within minutes Ghanshyam

got down from his cradle and went the stool. He picked up the

book and Dharmadev was convinced that his son would

become a great scholar.

NAMING THE LORD

When Ghanshyam was three months old, sage Markandey Muni came to

Dharmadev's house. Dharmadev received him warmly, and honored him.

Then Dharmadev told the sage to read Ghanshyam’s future and also

name him. The sage opened his astrology book and began to count on

his fingers. The sage said his name will be Hari since he has a dark

complexion and will also be known as Krishna. So the sage named him

Harikrishna. The sage also told Dharmadev that people will call him

Ghanshyam.
