Holy Qur’an on Praying Regularly Five Times a Day

Verily, Prayer is enjoined on the believers to be performed at fixed hours. (Holy Qur’an 4:104)

Commentary:

A Muslim should start praying when he is seven years old. At the age of ten, prayer becomes obligatory. Anyone who is a Muslim must perform prayers and should perform it with heart-felt devotion and zeal. It is also important that as far as possible, the prayer be performed in congregation. Finally, all five prayers must be performed regularly at their appointed times. Do not get into the habit of making the morning prayer and skipping Zuhr or making Asr and skipping Maghrib. Nor go to sleep without offering Ishaa. Those who make prayers like this are counted as non-performers of prayers in the sight of Allah. Their prayers do not give them any benefit. This verse also means that all prayers must be performed at the proper times appointed for them. For instance, do not make Fajr prayer at ten o'clock during the day nor offer Asr when the sun is setting.

Q. What is a follower of the religion of Islam called?A. He is called a Muslim.

Q. Who gave the name of Islam to our religion?A. Allah gave the name of Islam to our religion.

Q. Can you quote the verse of the Holy Qur'an where the name of Islam has been given to our religion.A. Yes. In chapter 5 verse 4, Allah named our religion as Islam.

Q. What are the main qualities of Islam?A. Islam is a perfect religion. Its teachings are simple and can easily be practiced by everyone. It gives reason for each of its commandments and teachings. The Holy Qur’an, which is the religious scripture of the Muslims, is the word of Allah. This book is exactly the same as it was revealed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Allah has promised to safeguard it.

ATFALParental responsibility regarding Salaat

The Holy Prophet Muhammad

(PBUH) has said that: Instruct

your children for Salaat when

they have turned 7. And when

they become 10, then observe

some strictness, if they do not

offer SalaatSalaat and also

separate their beds at this age.

When they turn 12, then

permission is not granted for any

kind of obstinacy. Then let their

case rest with Allah alone. After

that the training that you

imparted on them in childhood

or your prayers in this regards

will work for them.

(Address to Lajna at the occasion of

Annual Convention of Germany 2001)
