Exploring Life Systems – Core Curriculum (Target Grades 1-3): Through hands-on exploration activities and hiking, students will learn the importance of life cycles, habitats and animal adaptations in a natural setting. Habitats & Species at Risk – Core Curriculum (Target Grades 3-5): Students will explore food chains, predator/prey relationships and local species at risk, and will gain insight into different habitats through hands-on activities and hiking. Biodiversity & Invasive Species – Core Curriculum (Target Grades 5-8): Students will comb the woods using their senses and self-exploration skills to gain an understanding of the Carolinian Forest, the importance of biodiversity and the impact invasive species have on our local environment. Orienteering & Survival (Target Grades 4-8): In this team-building outdoor adventure students will work together to complete different outdoor survival challenges including shelter building, fire starting, knot tying and orienteering. This option can be added to any of the above programs. Pond & Insect Studies (All Grades): Pond & Insect Studies can be added to any program in the fall or spring. Students will investigate for themselves as they explore our pond, creek and forested area for local species with provided nets, buckets and ID charts.
