COST OF BACKBOARD

• If you want a backboard and rim for your kids to simply shoot around, go with a lower-priced model from $100-$300. On the other hand, if you have a larger driveway or court area to play on and you want to allow for competitive games, go with something sturdier and of higher quality so you get the most bang for your buck over a long period of time.

NETS• Nets are also important to having great backboards and rims. Get nets

that make crisp swishes, but not ones that are too light because they will rip in just weeks or months and you’ll need a new replacement. Make sure it’s tightly fitted and allows you to focus on the basketball without distraction.

CUSTOMER MANAGED INVENTORY

• With customer-managed inventory (CMI), the customer, as opposed to the vendor in a VMI model, has responsibility for all inventory decisions. This is similar to JIT inventory concepts. With a clear picture of their inventory and that of their supplier’s, the customer can anticipate fluctuations in demand and make inventory replenishment decisions accordingly.

• This applies to the system by letting the customer have the authority to manage the things they purchase and the need for more of anything else sort of like a pre-ordering thing going on.

INVENTORY MANAGING

• The inventory is pretty much the same thing as any other, but specifically they usually start to order when they have about 100 left they start to order more- 100 Enough materials to create a backboard and rim

• 100 because that is the main thing they go to so that they do have a lot but just in case any orders come in that’s huge they will be prepared for it

JIT(JUST IN TIME) SYSTEM

• Just-in-time operation leaves suppliers and downstream consumers open to supply shocks and large supply or demand changes. For internal reasons, Ohio saw this as a feature rather than a bug. He used an analogy of lowering the water level in a river to expose the rocks to explain how removing inventory showed where production flow was interrupted. Since one of the main barriers was rework, lowering inventory forced each shop to improve its own quality or cause a holdup downstream

• The items that takes the less time would be the materials. That would put together the backboard usually being delivered in 2 to 3 (business days) but the backboard an estimated 7-8 (business days).

VENDOR MANAGED INVENTORY

• Vendor-managed inventory (VMI) employs the same principles as those of JIT inventory, however, the responsibilities of managing inventory is placed with the vendor in a vendor/customer relationship. Whether it’s a manufacturer managing inventory for a distributor, or a distributor managing inventory for their customers, the management role goes to the vendor.

• An advantage of this business model is that the vendor may have industry experience and expertise that lets them better anticipate demand and inventory needs. The inventory planning and controlling is facilitated by applications that allow vendors access to their customer's inventory data

Page 11: BACKBOARD & RIM By: Brittany, Michelle, Makenzie.

VENDOR INFORMATION• The workers would log in to the vendor’s system to manage their

inventory by electronically putting the amount of inventory they have so they have the right estimate on how much stuff they need to sell in their store

Page 12: BACKBOARD & RIM By: Brittany, Michelle, Makenzie.

AMOUNT OF PEOPLE• The amount of people the customer needs would be 2.• 2 because for really any job no person could do it by their self but if they

did it would take a longer time. Not 3(or more) because it wouldn’t take that many people than it should be
