BACK TO SCHOOL WITHOUT TEARS

Term 1 Week 6 Dear parents & caregivers Munch & Crunch Munch and Crunch time is not meant to take up any learning time. The children either munch on their SMALL piece of fruit or vegetable while listening to a story or reading themselves or while the teacher is marking the daily roll etc. Children will not be allowed to go the canteen to get their apple “slinkied”. This takes up far too much class learning time. Children are to go to the canteen before school and have their fruit prepared if they wish, then put it in their lunch box until munch & crunch time in class. Parking and Traffic Woes Please do NOT walk through the staff car park at ANY time. We have some parents who simply will not follow this simple request and are endangering their lives and those of their children. When parking on the street, please take care not to park across people’s driveways. This makes it very inconvenient for the home owners to get in and out of their own driveways. The traffic wardens have been visiting our school site at various times and are issuing fines to those who do not obey the road rules. Photos are taken of offending cars and given to the police to follow up. Late Arrivals When your children are late to school, parents are required to come to the school office and sign them in. We have a number of consistent offenders who are simply sending their children in on their own. Because of the consistent number of late arrivals and the disruption that is being caused to the class learning time every morning, when your children are late to school, you are requested to sign them in then wait on the office steps while the children go to their classrooms on their own. Year 7 2021 Expressions of Interest - due back on 13 March 2020 An article I read recently in a local newspaper, applies to all schools and I thought I’d present it in our newsletter for all parents to consider. Be supportive at home. Trust your child’s teacher and school to deal with issues between students. Always go to the teacher if there is an issue with another child. Don’t sort it out yourself. Be a role model at school. Keep outside of school issues, outside of school. Be a role model online. Don’t argue with other parents on Facebook. Always sit with your child when they use the internet. All the children performed well and showed excellent sportsmanship. Remember if you would like to attend the Swimming Sports Assembly on Friday at 2.30pm in the hall, you are most welcome. Harmony Day, ANZAC Day & Mad Hatter’s Day – more information about these events will be in the next newsletter but each one will be a morning activity. An article I read recently in a local newspaper, applies to all schools and I thought I’d present it in our newsletter for all parents to consider. BACK TO SCHOOL WITHOUT TEARS Cybersafety Solutions expert Susan Mclean shares her tips to help transition back to school:

Be supportive at home.

Always go to the teacher if there is an issue with another child. Don’t sort it out yourself.

Be a role model at school. Keep outside of school issues, outside of school.

Be a role model online. Don’t argue with other parents on Facebook.

Always sit with your child when they use the internet.

No phones or devices in the bedroom at night. Zone Swimming Carnival Thank you to Mrs Natter and Mr Howe who accompanied the children who made it to this next level in swimming. All the children performed well and showed excellent sportsmanship. Remember if you would like to attend the Swimming Sports Assembly on Friday at 2.30pm in the hall, you are most welcome.
