Welcome to Fourth Grade!
• This presentation will cover fourth grade policies and procedures.
• If you have any questions during my presentation, please don’t hesitate to ask.
All About MeMiss Blair I have always wanted to be a teacher.
The last 10 years have been at Rutherford teaching 4th grade.
I attended Shippensburg University• Bachelors in Elementary Education
Penn State Harrisburg• Masters in Teaching and Curriculum• Permanent Teacher Certificate
My Experience I’ve been teaching for 17 years.
The grades I’ve taught are second through fifth and Kindergarten. My favorite is fourth.
My Goals
• My goals is to give your child the academic and social skills they will need to progress to fifth grade.
• To provide a supportive and fun classroom environment.
• To help your child make new friends and discover more about themselves in the process.

• Students will work on specific reading areas to increase fluency and reading comprehension.
• Students will work with a Rutherford staff member for 40 minutes, every day.
• Student progress will be monitored and their progress will be charted in graphs.
• This instruction is in addition to the core reading time.

– Instructions are provided at the time of the assignment
Classroom Community• Our classroom is a
community. In our community, we have rules to help us get along with each other.
• Our class rules are:– Be respectful
– Be responsible
– Be prepared
– Be safe
Rules and Responsibilities• All rules are in addition to the School
Wide Disciple Policy.
• Your child’s responsibility is to follow all school and classroom rules.
• All adult personnel have the right to enforce school rules.
Grading and Progress Reports
• Progress Reports are not mandatory but will be provided during the year.
• Reports are given in the middle of each marking period.
· Grading Scale· 90% to 100% = A· 80% to 89% = B· 70% to 79% = C· 60% to 60% = D· 59% and lower = F
Homework• Assignment books are to be filled out
everyday even when homework is not given. It is the student’s responsibility to correctly fill out the daily assignments.
• Homework slips are given for forgotten work
• 5 homework slips = a detention

Field Trips• We are planning lots of fun field trips for
this year!
• All the trips are educational experiences.
• Behavior is a factor in whether your child can attend.
• Letters will go out prior to the scheduled event.
• If you can chaperone we would really appreciate the help.
What Can You Do at Home?• Review Basic Facts (+, -, x, /).
• Check study guides that go home (especially science).
• Study for tests with your child, (at least a 15 to 30 min. review)

6. Do one math problem for me before you go out to play.
7. Recite you 7x tables for me.
8. Name one way you were helpful or kind to someone today.
