Bachelor of Visual Art [Honours] Scholarship 2020

Adelaide Central School of Art has been rated as the best art school in Australia for overall quality of educational experience*, outranking all universities that offer a dedicated visual art degree.
The $7500 scholarship provides support to an outstanding student to undertake the Bachelor of Visual Art [Hons] at Adelaide Central School of Art and will be awarded to a successful applicant as a contribution towards study-related expenses.
The BVA [Hons] is a one year full-time program open to high-achieving students that have completed an undergraduate degree in visual art. Under the guidance of a supervisor, who is a leading practising artist, students will engage in practice-led research, utilising a range of methodologies to develop an original body of artwork and corresponding exegesis.
Bachelor of Visual Art [Hons] students receive:
• A secure, individual on-site studio with 24/7 access• Face-to-face contact hours with lecturers in our extended 34-week academic year • Individual tuition in small classes (no more than 12 students in a class)• Weekly one-on-one sessions with a nominated supervisor who is a leading practising artist• Regular critiques and group discussions with other BVA [Hons] students• Ongoing feedback on their progress and development throughout the year
The BVA [Hons] program equips students to pursue careers as practicing artists and provides a pathway to post-graduate research programs. The BVA [Hons] can only be undertaken on a full time basis.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must:
• have successfully completed an undergraduate degree in visual art (or an equivalent qualification) with a Credit average or higher
• be an Australian citizen or permanent resident • be successful in obtaining a place in the BVA [Hons] - applicants can apply for the BVA [Hons] and the
scholarship at the same time Selection Process
The scholarship will be awarded by a selection panel and the following will be considered:
• high level academic achievement and commitment to further studies • demonstrated artistic ability • strength of the BVA [Hons] application, including the portfolio and project proposal• community contribution and leadership skills
Conditions
The scholarship of $7500 is a contribution towards study-related expenses. The scholarship will be awarded in two payments of $3750, to be paid at the commencement of semester 1 and semester 2. The School does not require the scholarship holder to account for the use of funds.
A scholarship holder is required to maintain satisfactory progress in the course, which will be reviewed at the end of the first semester by the Academic Committee. The scholarship may be terminated if progress is unsatisfactory.
Satisfactory progress is defined as:
• academic performance: Credit average• professional conduct: as deemed appropriate according to the School’s Student Handbook
A scholarship holder is expected to be an ambassador for the School and will be required to contribute 20 hours of their time during the academic year, through participation in Open Day and other School events.
The scholarship may not be deferred. A student who withdraws or who is excluded from study will forfeit the scholarship, except where the School accepts that there are extenuating circumstances and agrees to continue the scholarship. The School reserves the right not to award a scholarship if the selection panel determine that there are no applications of sufficient merit.

Applications must be made using the Bachelor of Visual Art [Hons] Scholarship Application Form available at acsa.sa.edu.au. Applicants must submit a separate application for entry into the Honours program, prior to (or with) the scholarship application. Applications close 10 January 2020.
