Bengali MIL Core Course – A

Semester – 1st/2nd

বাংলা বয্াকরণ পিরচয়

Course objectives:

To make the students aware about basic grammar of Bengali language. To make students familiar with various forms of Bengali modern grammar.

Course learning outcomes:

The course would enlighten the students on the topic such as Dhawani, Barna, Pada etc. The students could be able to understand and analyze the basic knowledge of Bengali

language.

Course objectives:

The course is expected to introduce basic grammar of Bengali languageto the learners. It will equip the students to explore the possibility of literary writings also.

Objectives:

History of Bengali literature(ancient and medieval) prosody and imagery are an integral part of Bengali literary studies. As we know Bengali language and literature has a literary history of more than thousand years. Added to that Bengali literature developed through various literary and social movements through times. Such as Buddhist movement and Vaishnavmovement, Shakto movement, Romantic Movement etc. The present course aims at teaching selected texts, through those social and literary movements. This course will also cover Bengali prosody as well as imagery.

Course Course learning outcomes:

This course will enable students to understand various social and literary movements and literature of ancient and medieval Bengal. The course will also help students to understand prosody and imagery of Bengali poetry.

বাংলা সািহেতয্র ইিতহাস ও অলংকার

Course objectives:

19th century is very importantfrom various aspects – socio-cultural movements inspired literary creativity. Lots of socio-political movements and changes happened in this period. A remarkable freshness may be found in the Bengali Literature of the time. Contributionof Fort William College, Bengali Prose, Novels, Short Stories, Poetry and Drama all are found in this period. Bengali rhetoric is also part of this course.

Outcome:

This course will enable to understand 19th century Bengali literature. This will help students to be familiar with rich heritage of Bengali literature. Studying rhetoric will also help the students to understand the inner essence of both Bengali prose and poetry.

Course objectives:

Literature can’t be understood without aesthetics. This course contains ancient Indian aesthetics, western aesthetics as well as literary genre study of Dhvani and Rasa. This will help us to understand the basics of literature according to Indian aesthetics. Contemporary western theories like feminism, gender studies, neo-historism, narratology, post-colonialism etc. will help to realize contemporary literature. Literary genre will also help students to mark a particular literature within characteristics. Overall this course will help to understand both western and Indian literature as a whole.

কিবতা ও নাটক

Course objectives:

Bengali poetry has a history of more than one thousand years. Started from Charyapad , this genre is still continuing. In the present course we have included eight powerful poems of twentieth century’s eight different well-known poets. In second unit Bengali Drama has been included. One drama from nineteenth century and another from twentieth century have been included.


This course will definitely help students to understand the features and essence of Bengali poems as well as Bengali drama. This will also enable students to realize the reciprocal relation of literature and society.

Course objectives:

Any literature cannot be limited within the region.Every literature has broader aspect, time and frame. Therefore we believe in breaking boundaries and try to concentrate in various form of literature of Delhi. Through the study of Bengali literature of Delhi, students know well the cultural background which promotes a particular literature, the time and history of Delhi. So, they can explore the actual essence of Delhi. Not only Delhi this course has an objective to enter in our neighborhood literature. And thus, we can spread out the literary work of our neighbor written in different languages.


This course will enable students to understand the root of Delhi and Bengalis in Delhi and how did Delhi-based Bengali writers show their contribution to their mother tongue. Staying outsideof Bengal they describe the local sprite as well as the core of the heart of literature. In spite of the geographical distance students can easily motivated in the literature and inspired not only by the writers of Delhi but also the neighborhood.

Course objectives:

Medieval Bengali literature has a very rich literary tradition. Experts consider Bengali literature written between 13th to 18th centuries as Medieval Bengali literature. There is variety of literary genre which emerged in this time period. In this paper students should get a chance to study almost every variety of Bengali literary genres between 13th to 18th centuries.


This course will open up opportunities for the students to know about Medieval Bengali literature. They will also get a chance to understand cultural and socio –political background of the literature.

Course objectives:

Tagore literature is a very important part of Bengali literature. As Rabindranath is the most prominent personality of Bengali literature, this current paper has been fully designed upon him. It included Tagore’s drama, poetry, short stories and prose. Though this paper could not include all the literary trends of Tagore literature but overall it contains a representative flavor of his literature.


The course will enable students to understand the contribution of Tagore in Bengali literature. Along with this the course will help students to understand the cultural influence of Tagore in Bengal and his relevance in contemporary time.

Course objectives:

History of Bengali literature (ancient, medieval and modern) is an integral part of Bengali studies. As we know Bengali language and literature has a literary history of more than thousand years. Added to that Bengali literature developed through various literary and social movements through times. The present course aims at teaching selected texts, through those social and literary movements. This course includes all the major literary texts and trends of Bengal.


This course will enable students to understand various social and literary movements and literature of ancient, medieval and modern times of Bengal.
