HISTORY

TradingBell Inc. is a premier provider of software and services

that help manufacturers, distributors, wholesalers and

catalogers manage their product content efficiently and

deliver consistent product information to their customers

repository using a database and automatically publish to

processing systems and other supply chain systems (e.g., ERP,

financials, etc.).

Organized in 2004, the company began with an engagement

with a large client, the R.E. Michel Company, headquartered

in Baltimore, MD in assisting them in solving a complex

product catalog management problem. With over $1 Billion

in product sales, this leading global distributor of HVAC

components required a comprehensive, automated approach

to its manual driven processes for creating, managing,

publishing, and updating a 1,200 page product catalog. After

several iterations of its products and services, the TradingBell

technology and business process outsourcing solution was

developed over a period of four years. During early 2004,

TradingBell released its initial version of the CatalogStudio

System for catalog management and publishing.

TradingBell is headquartered in Vienna, VA in the Washington

DC high technology corridor. All management, sales &

marketing and technical support are based at its

headquarters location. Overseas, the company has a

TradingBell branch office that hosts a research and

development center, and a data conversion/ QA facility. The

company employs about 60 people that includes executive

management, sales managers, software engineers, data/

content editors, and administrative/ support personnel.

PRINT PUBLISHING

Customers face tight deadlines

to publish their catalogs every

year. When the data is

converted and loaded into the

CatalogStudio system, the

JumpStart program is also used

to publish an initial catalog to

print media using Adobe

InDesign or XpressCatalog tool.

This reduces the time to take product information to print

media without the customer having to deal with the

extensive labor involved and the associated learning curve.

� InDesign: When customers need creative looking

catalogs, Adobe InDesign is used for producing the print

ready files of the catalog. A team of professional catalog

designers with creative design expertise and quality

control analysts are assigned to the project to design

print-ready catalog files based on customer’s design

requirements using master templates. A master template

is designed with sample pages and approved by the client

before the entire catalog is created. The team follows a

strict workflow process of design, verification, quality

control, delivery and approval by customer of each

section designed. Customers are fully involved

throughout the project on a regular basis to ensure all

deliverables meet customer requirements.

� XpressCatalog: Many print catalogs are used as

reference manuals to order products rather than as a

sales tool. Typically industrial customers do not need

graphically appealing catalogs but have a strong need to

produce up-to-date catalogs. XpressCatalog is a tool

developed by TradingBell to produce print catalogs that

are completely template driven. Using this tool,

hundreds of catalog pages are generated within minutes

and delivered to customer for printing. A team of

technical engineers are assigned to load the data from

excel spreadsheets provided by customers, design

templates based on the sample and quickly generate

hundreds of pages within few days. This process is

efficient and reduces time by 90% to produce print-ready

catalogs.

CD & WEB PUBLISHING

Product information can be delivered using the CD and web

media much more efficiently and in a cost-effective manner

when compared to the print catalogs. The JumpStart services

program can be used to produce CD and web catalogs using

the data converted and loaded into the CatalogStudio

repository. Designers are assigned to the project and creative

aspects of web design are executed as per customer

requirements.

INTEGRATION SERVICES

TradingBell has successfully integrated CatalogStudio product

with several third party systems and application. Integration

service is provided to create connections for data exchange

with existing legacy, ERP, or inventory management systems

to synchronize the content stored in the CatalogStudio

repository and to facilitate transaction processing. A team of

technical engineers and a project manager are assigned to

the project. Existing legacy system is analyzed and

integration components are developed to move data

between disparate systems.

MANAGED CATALOG SERVICES

Fully leverages the Web tools such as Product Manager,

Catalog Workflow, and PDF Annotation tools to enable

TradingBell customers to collaborate effectively with

catalogers, designers, and printers. TradingBell customizes

the workflows, security, and performance characteristics for

each customer and helps facilitate collaboration between

partners when required.

CONTENT CONVERSION WORKFLOW PROCESS There are many work components involved in the content conversion process. The following paragraphs summarize these

components with an emphasis on quality and process.

DATA CREATION

Customer will provide information about the source of the product information to TradingBell including documents, catalogs, vendor

reference web site links and accounts, data extracts from current ERP system to extraction, consolidation and organization or

product information in one central database.

TradingBell, with guidance from the Customer will extract data from various documents and create attributes, values, technical

specifications, descriptions, features, model information, engineering specifications, line drawings and product images.

ATTRIBUTE NORMALIZATION

TradingBell will create and manage the attributes in the central database and will make sure the attributes are normalized and no

duplicate attributes are stored in the database. Duplicate or similar attributes names captures are communicated to the customer

on a weekly basis and feedback is obtained for normalization.

CATEGORY CLASSIFICATION AND STRUCTURING

TradingBell will perform data conversion of all the products and load all the product information from the PDF catalog to create a

comprehensive central product repository. TradingBell will cross reference all models with products and structure that information

in the CatalogStudio database. Conversion includes organizing product information in categories, product families and image

mapping.

Specific catalog constructs will be created that includes the hierarchy of the product information (Taxonomy) along with staging

areas for new products. After the initial load of the content, the product information will be reviewed for accuracy and reports will

be provided for review at Customer. Any corrections along with any updates will be performed and the CatalogStudio along with its

repository will be delivered to the customer.

PRINT CATALOG PUBLISHING

TradingBell will Design templates for publishing PDF quotes, custom catalogs and product spec sheets using the converted data

stored in CatalogStudio database. Customer will be able to generate outputs using the templates and the product content in the

database.

IMAGE & GRAPHIC FOR PRODUCTS

TradingBell will extract images from the sources provided and associate to correct products, groups and categories. TradingBell will

rely on the source of the information to extract high quality graphic images for the products. TradingBell will not attempt to enhance

the image quality by using any specialized tools or provide photographic service to capture images for Customer’s products.

TradingBell will run periodic reports of missing images and provide it to Customer to help TradingBell identify an alternate source for

the images.

CUSTOMER REVIEW AND APPROVAL PROCESS

TradingBell will conduct weekly status meeting with Customer and will provide weekly status update of the project.

Verification of Data: TradingBell will provide extracted data in an excel format as soon as each section of the data is converted,

normalized, organized and verified. In addition to data in excel format, TradingBell will also provide a HTML version of the extracted

data to understand the data from a web navigation perspective.

Verification of Template Design: TradingBell will work with Customer to understand their design needs and expectation and will

provide three different master template designs for approval.

Verification of Catalog Output: TradingBell will provide PDF version of the published catalog each section at a time to Customer for

verification of layout and design of the product pages. PDF provided for verification purpose will not be high resolution print ready

documents. High resolution PDF documents will be provided on specific request in the middle of the project on request. TradingBell

will provide a high resolution print ready catalog output at the end of the project for final verification and print proofing

Print Management: TradingBell will work with Customer’s printer to identify the print production guidelines including page site,

Fully Customizable Interface

The CDCat software is capable of creating CD-ROM product

catalogs with custom look-and-feel for your organization’s

branding requirements. CDCat software uses HTML / CSS

based style sheets to automatically create final CD output

with navigation, search results and product details pages.

CD catalogs created using CDCat software does not require

installation. All data is stored in a built-in database that will

Price Updates

CDCat has a powerful feature to update price attribute values

stored in the CD catalog. Users can set the price attribute,

price expiry date and a URL where the new price will be

located when creating the CD catalog. When the price expiry

date is reached, CD catalog will automatically look at the URL

for a new price update excel file and download the new price

information to the CD catalog and update the database

located in the temporary folder in the machine.

Order History

All orders placed by an end user from the machine is

recorded and stored in the temporary database. End users

can browse the history of orders and re-order previous orders

quickly and send out the order to the configured email id in

the CD catalog.

and implement security features in WebCat software.

• Merchant account and payment gateway account has to

be purchased by Customer. TradingBell will configure and

implement the payment gateway as part of the project

implantation.

• TradingBell will require full remote access with admin

rights to both web and database server to install and

configure software.

• All TradingBell software is delivered as a download for

customers from TradingBell server

• Software, User Manuals and Installation Instructions can

• Our support portal also has constantly updated

knowledgebase, troubleshooting tips, FAQs and training

videos.

• Please contact our support team to obtain user id and

password for your company.

• All software upgrades and patches are delivered

automatically using built-in Automatic Software Upgrade

tool.

INSTALLATION

Installation and configuration of the software will be done

after the data import and publishing process is completed.

Installation will be performed remotely through internet by

TradingBell Support Team using GoToAssist remote

assistance software. Customer is not required to setup VPN

or Remote Desktop application. Please ensure you have

permission and access to install our remote assistance

software GoToAssist.

TRAINING

• Training sessions will be provided using GoToMeeting

online for customer purchased online training.

• Onsite training is provided for customer with large

number of users in a company and depends on different

products purchased.

Requirements for on-site training at customer’s location

• Conference room with projector and networking with

connection to database and file server to access images

and data.

• Separate machine for each person participating in the

training (Preferred).

• Make sure CatalogStudio, InDesign and InCat is

configured in all the machines.

• Make sure your database is configured in your server and

all the machines connect to the database from the

conference room.

• Configure images in the server and map a network drive

in the local machine to the images folder.

SUPPORT AND SOFTWARE UPGRADE

CONTRACT

Unlimited phone and email support is available on a yearly

basis and first year is included as part of this agreement.

Customer has the option to renew the support and software

upgrade contract after this period.

request is automatically logged and tracked using a ticket id

by our support system.

All upgrades to the software licenses being purchased are

included for the first year. Customer has the option to renew

the support and software upgrade contract at a fee of 18% of

the total product license price.
