TYPICAL STATION — MATERIALS COST COMPARISON OF ALL SYSTEMS

■ The use of flexible (rubber) entry fittings now makesseries layout piping a practical alternative for fiberglasspiping systems.

■ Single-wall RED THREAD IIA fiberglass piping still pro-vides the lowest material cost for a typical installationusing either the traditional or the series piping layout.

■ Double-wall RED THREAD IIA fiberglass piping is morethan 25 percent less material cost than 11⁄2" flexiblecoaxial piping in a series layout.

■ Single-wall RED THREAD IIA fiberglass pipe (where sin-gle-wall is permitted) and a good leak detector is thelowest priced system available.

INSTALLATION SEQUENCE FOR SERIES FIBERGLASS PIPE

Step 1■ Start installation from tank.

■ Make up tee assemblies, including flex connectors.Fiberglass or steel tees can be used, but fiberglass leavesmore room (see diagram above).

■ Insert primary pipe inside containment. Push pipeinto downstream dispenser sump with sump entry fit-ting disassembled and tee pushed out of the way.

■ Position pipe for bonding last field coupling or fitting, and assemble first sump entry fitting.

■ Bond last field joint and then first tee joint (T1).

■ Insert next length of primary pipe inside secondarypipe; push into next downstream dispenser sump asbefore.

Step 2■ Bond upstream tee joint (T2) then first tee joint in

sump (T3).

Step 3■ Bond tee joint T4, then the 90˚ connection.

BENEFITS COMPARISON OF FIBERGLASS vs. FLEXIBLE PRODUCTS

■ Excellent flow characteristics: Smooth I.D.RED THREAD IIA pipe offers less head loss and greaterflow than some flexible products with convoluted I.D.’s.

Fiberglass fittings create minimal reductions in I.D.,unlike some flexible fittings.

■ Excellent flow characteristics: Larger I.D.Two-inch RED THREAD IIA fiberglass pipe has a nominal2.235" I.D., and 3-inch RED THREAD IIA fiberglass pipehas a nominal 3.360" I.D.—much larger than 11⁄2" and 2"flexible systems.

■ 30+ years of reliable service usingfiberglass and a 30-YEAR WARRANTY*Smith Fibercast has proven itself in thepetroleum marketing industry with reliable UL Listed fiberglass piping systems for more than 30 years.

■ RED THREAD IIA fiberglass pipe is not affected by microbial attack

■ Reliability of sloping of product, vent, and vapor pipingRED THREAD IIA fiberglass pipe holds grade and willdrain fluid to the detection point.

RED THREAD IIA fiberglass pipe is used by virtually alloil companies for vapor return lines due to the concernfor trapped fluid in vapor return lines.

■ RED THREAD IIA fiberglass pipe has a large safety factor

RED THREAD IIA fiberglass pipe has a burst pressuregreater than 2,000 psi—more than three times the burstpressure of most flexible hoses.

Flow ■ Known Service Life ■ Pressure Capability:
