Racism is a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and
that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. Racism goes
beyond prejudice. Racism is the power to enforce one’s prejudices. It can be practiced by
individuals, groups, or institutions. Institutions that possess power can perpetuate racism through their personnel, policies, practices,
structures, and foundations to subordinate or exploit people.
