Children’s Mental Health Week
This week was Children's Mental Health Week and the theme was 'Find Your Brave'.
We had a family book cafe, using stories to help us be brave in talking in about our feelings and even made superhero 'kindness' pledges! KS2 used poetry and rhyme to find their brave, using 'Cinderella of the Nile' and the poem 'The Door'. They thought about being brave when faced with new opportunities, but also in performing their own poems. Well done everyone!
Young Voices
Well done to all of the children in years 4, 5 and 6 who performed at the O2 arena on Monday evening! They took part in an impressive choir concert, alongside 8000 other children. What an amazing accomplishment! Thank you to Lauren Todd for all of her hard work in making this possible.
Safer Internet Day
On Tuesday 11th, we will be celebrating Safer Internet Day. This is a global event, designed to empower young people to take control of their digital lives. This year, the focus is on online identity and asking young people to consider whether they and their peers are truly free to be themselves online. We have organised for a fantastic theatre group to deliver assemblies and workshops for every class. Please look at https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/ for more information and tips about online safety.
BESSEMER NEWS
Word of the Week
Well done to everyone who learned our word of the week last week. The children were able to share the meaning and origin of the word ‘devour’ with their class and in assembly. This week, the word of the week is…
dwindled
Collective Marathon
Well done to all of the children and staff who participated in our whole school ‘collective marathon’ today. It was fantastic to see so many of you run, skip or walk approximately 120 metres to cover the distance of a marathon!
Thank you very much to everyone who donated too. 100% of the money raised will be sent to ‘GIVIT’ to help support those who have been affected by bush fires across Australia.

Have a great weekend, Lizzie

Tutorial Day
Thank you for your understanding and patience, as we have experienced technical difficulties from Magic Booking, while trying to organise Tutorial Day appointments. As you are aware, Tutorial Day is different this year: you will need to make both a maths appointment and an English appointment.
Each meeting will be a maximum of ten minutes long. If your child has a different teacher for English and maths, you will meet with each teacher for ten minutes. If your child has the same teacher for English and maths, you will meet with the same teacher for a total of twenty minutes.
In addition to this, you will be provided with a sheet of paper with your child’s levels on. These will be from the end of the Autumn term. This will help you to understand how your child is performing compared to age-related expectations. Please ask your child’s English / maths teacher if you need further clarification regarding your child’s level.
Please see the school office if you need to change your Tutorial Day appointment.
Reminders
Please remind your child that they should not be wearing a smart watch – or similar – in school. Children should only wear watches that tell the time, nothing else!
Please also remind your child that they are not allowed to bring their own pencil cases, toys, or sweets to school.
Finally, please could we remind you that dogs are not allowed on school property, even if they are being carried.
