DISCRETE COMPONENTS

Discrete semiconductor devices are individual components that are not part of an integrated circuit and have both conductive and insulating properties as semiconductors. Bürklin Elektronik offers a wide range of discrete semiconductor components, from the most commonly used types including diodes, transistors or rectifiers, also IGBT modules, which belong to the field of power electronics.

CPLDs & FPGAs FPGAs (Field Programmable Gate Arrays) are particularly popular due to their ability to accelerate key work-loads. Their flexibility and reprogrammability are appreciated by design engineers, assembly technicians and field engineers: By combining various digital functions on to a single FGPA chip that previously had been built in separate circuit parts, the performance of a circuit is drastically increased and space requirements are mini- mized. A much simpler structure in comparison to FPGAs is CPLDs (Complex Programmable Logic Device). These are characterized by their lower power consumption and smaller size.

MULTI-CHIP-MODULE

The various integrated circuits of an MCM-module can be used for many digital and analog functions. These can be Processors and Microcontrollers or Memory, AD converters, Amplifiers, Control circuits, Radio chips, Interfaces or other IC components, in addition, discrete electronic components that ensure the functionality between the individual chips. Due to their compact, space-saving design and the high integration density, they are used in many technical areas. Integrated circuits, so-called ICs, are often soldered directly onto printed circuit boards. However, there is a risk that these high-quality and sometimes costly components can be damaged, for example because of high temperatures during the soldering process. Special sockets to help protect these elements can be fastened securely in the twinkling of an eye. Microchips can be attached to IC sockets without soldering. They withstand vibrations and can be easily replaced if necessary. DIMM sockets promise a secure hold and optimum data transmission for memory modules in computers. Vibrating crystals, so-called oscillators, which are installed in almost all transmitter systems, can also be mounted on circuit boards with the aid of specific sockets.

OPTOELECTRONIC COMPONENTS

Optoelectronics encompasses all products and processes involved in the conversion of electronically generated data and energies in light emission and vice versa. This includes devices that use optical and electrical compo-nents. They act as transmitters or receivers. While light emitting diodes generate light from electricity, i.e. act as transmitters, it behaves exactly vice versa with photodiodes or photo resistors. The combination of transmitter and receiver in one component is called an Optocoupler. Optoelectronic compo-nents are used in numerous devices for everyday use.
