It is so good to see so much going on in the local pool scene. It’s still tough out there for your favorite room, but as a player we have so many different opportunities for different events to play in. More and more people are stepping up to put together events and rooms are jumping in to help make those events happen. While it could always be better, we really do have it good here in Arizona.

I look forward to seeing all of the Diamond Pool Tour players at Casino Del Sol Resort in January. With challenge matches, mini tournaments and the $4000 added main event, it is going to be a great time. And someone is going to win a pool table on Thursday.

-Until next time Mike

Ed Scott Undefeated at Knobbys

Ed Scott defeated Russ Baldwin twice to finish off an undefeated run at Knob-by’s 9 & Under 8-Ball event on November 6th.

Scott scored wins over Lynn Shoemaker, Burt Balancad and Oscar Avila, before a 2-0 win over Baldwin for the hot-seat.

Baldwin came back from a 0-1 scoreline to defeat Avila 2-1 in the semi-final match, and set his sights on Scott in the double elimination finals.

Ed started off the final set with a break and run, but Russ quickly tied things at 1-1 with an 8-ball break in rack two. The final rack went back and forth with both players treading carefully so as to not give up an advantage. In the end, it was Scott winning the final game for the 2-1 victory and first place.

Daric Craft cruised through a field of 38 players to win the first of four “$1000 added” Fargorate events, this one held at Stingers on November 14th and 15th.

Craft’s path through the event was not an easy one, as he had wins over Mike Gashwazra, Tami Hathcock, Bill Vander Weyst and Jerry Stuckart before facing Ben Sutherland for the hot-seat.

Sutherland didn’t have any easier a path through the field with wins over Steve Stowers, Scott Vo-gelsberg, Evan Brinkmann and Eric Nordstrom to this credit for the day.

As evenly matched as Craft and Sutherland were on paper (a 16 point difference in Fargo ratings meant an even race to nine), it was Craft running away with a 9-4 win for the hot-seat.

The man to beat on the one loss side was Eric Osburn. Osburn had lost his first match on Satur-day to Oscar Avila, but had put together a seven match winning streak on the left hand side of the board that would have made any player proud. Frank Alvarez, Bill Vander Weyst, Eric Nord-strom and Jerry Stuckart were just some of the players that fell on the one loss side to Osburn over the two day event. Osburn would run out of gas in the semi-finals though, as a very deter-mined Ben Sutherland stopped Osburn’s winning streak with a 7-4 scoreline.

The final match between Craft and Sutherland was an extended race to 11, with the same results as the first meeting between these two players. Craft continued playing the strong game he had displayed earlier and defeated Sutherland 11-4 for first place.

Fargorate is a statistics based ratings system promoted by Cue Sports International (CSI). It provides a way for players to see how their playing ability compares to play-ers anywhere in the world, based on one concise system. As part of CSI’s attempt to showcase this system, they are helping to sponsor four $1000 added events using the Fargorate system. Up-coming Fargorate events are set for January 23rd - 24th at Skip & Jan’s, and February 20th - 21st at Pockets Pool and Pub in Tucson. The fourth event will be later in 2016 at Bullshooters. Look for more detals on these upcoming events in next month’s paper.

More information on Fargorate is available online at www.fargorate.com.

The Diamond Pool Tour held their final event of 2015 season at the same place they kicked off the season, Skip and Jan’s, now in Gilbert, Az. The season ended just like it started, with Scott Frost in the winner’s circle. The event also featured the third “B” player to play in the finals.

The event, held on November 7th - 8th drew a field of 61 players with 25 “A” players and 36 “B” players.

The “A” Bracket was all about Scott Frost, as he cruised through early matches with Navin Talreja, Jerry Stuckart and Las Vegas’ Danny Gokhul before a tough hill-hill win over this season’s nemesis Ben Sutherland. Frost then went on to defeat Rick Armbrust 7-4 to earn his spot on the final bracket. Armbrust scored a hill-hill win over Tim Daniel to join Frost on the final bracket.

The “B” Bracket saw recent Valley newcomer Bill Stock navigate the winner’s side for a hot-seat match against Tucson’s Aaron Purdy. Purdy got the better of this match, with a 7-3 win over Stock. On the one loss side, Stock had his hands full with Art St. Germain. St. Germain had lost a hill-hill match to Scott Vo-gelsberg in the second round on Saturday, but had put together a string of seven match wins without even allowing an opponent to the hill against him. Stock would become opponent number eight to not reach the hill, as St. Germain eliminated him 5-3.

The final bracket kicked off with two hill-hill matches as Purdy took Frost to the hill before Frost took the match 7-6, and Armbrust went to hill-hill before beat-ing St. Germain 5-4. As if the fans hadn’t had enough of the hill-hill nail biters, the next match also went to hill-hill before Purdy eliminated Armbrust 5-4. The final match between Frost and Purdy was not as close as the first one, with Frost scoring the 7-5 win in one set for his 4th win of the season.

Tucson’s Rebecca Wagner finished in 13th place, far ahead of the other seven female competitors in this event, and won the Greenmail.com Top Lady Bonus of $100.

The Neil’s Garage Cabinets Second Chance Tournament on Sunday only drew five players, and was conducted as a round robin event. Daric Craft went through the event undefeated with a 4-0 record for first place, while Rebecca Wagner took second with a 2-2 record.

While there were no changes at the top of the Juniors and “B” players points lists, the “A” player points list saw Brian Reich jump ahead of Bobby Emmons to finish in second place. With Scott Frost removing himself from eligibility for “end of season” awards, Reich took the awards for top A player for the season. Congratulations to Reich, as well as top “B” player Joey Barrera and top Junior Nick Kline.

The Tour will take December off, but the season finale will take place on Janu-ary 7th - 10th at Presenting Sponsor Casino Del Sol Resort in Tucson. The event has been changed to a $4000 added event, with another $1000 being added by Casino Del Sol to various mini tournament and challenge matches on Thursday the 7th. Players are urged to make their reservations at Casino Del Sol as soon as possible. Players can call 855-765-7829, and use Offer Code “Diamond” for the tour rate. Please remember that players must have played in two regular season events in order to be eligible to play in the season finale.

The ladies of the AWBT brought the 2015 season to a close with another chapter in the ongoing battle between Rebecca Wagner and Bernie Store, and another tournament victory for Wagner.

The first upset on Saturday came in the second round when Carman Osenton sent Sara Miller packing to the left side of the board in a hill-hill thriller. Miller would take advantage of a bye in the next round, but then drop her next match to Kim Hoffman 7-5 for an uncharacteristic finish outside the money for Miller. After the win over Miller, Osenton would drop her next match to Tucson’s Kim Kauffman 7-2, but a late Saturday win over Beth Orth earned Osenton her first AWBT Tour cash in 7th place.

With Miller eliminated from the winner’s side, that left the top half of the bracket wide open for a new player to make a splash. That half of the bracket ended Saturday play with Kauffman and Veronica Poore still undefeated. The bottom half of the bracket was Wagner and Store, ready to face off against each other first thing Sunday morning.

On the one loss side, players were looking at the path they would have to navi-gate in order to qualify for the money on Sunday. Sarah Geoghan would defeat Leandrea Gaff to earn a match with Osenton on Sunday, while the other half of the one loss side saw Marcy Thomas eliminate Pati Martinez Muehling and Kim Hoffman eliminate Tucson tour stop winner Jessica Derezinski.

Sunday matches got underway with Kauffman sending Poore west 7-6 and Wagner beating Store 7-4.

Meanwhile, Geoghan eliminated Osenton and Hoffman sent Thomas to the rail in 7th place.

Store then kept her tournament hopes alive with a 7-4 win over Geoghan, and Hoffman eliminated Poore in 5th place 7-5.

The final four players were Wagner vs Kauffman for the hot-seat, and Store for Hoffman on the one loss side. Wagner made quick work of her match, scoring a 7-2 win, while Store was doing the same on the one loss side, beating Hoffman 7-2.

The 7-2 scorelines kept on coming, as Store then eliminated Kauffman in 3rd place 7-2.

The final match between Wagner and Store was the third time these two players have played each other in the finals of an AWBT event this year. Both of the previous finals matches between these two were won by Wagner. This meet-ing looked to be following the same pattern right out of the gate when Wagner broke up a 1-1 tie to take a 5-1 lead. Wagner led 7-2 when a 9-ball break by Store looked to swing some momentum in her direction. She clawed her way back to 7-5 before Wagner knew what hit her. Wagner then won two of the next three games for a 9-6 win and her third AWBT title of the season.

The second chance tournament on Sunday saw Amanda Pulley bounce back from a first round loss to Sara Miller, and run the one loss side before beating Miller in the finals 5-2.

Assistant Tour director Tres Kane gave his thanks to Mike and Julie Bates, and the staff of Bullshooters for hosting and adding $300 to the main event and $100 to the second chance event, Jose Gonzales of Las Glorias Grille for add-ing $100 to the main event and his partner Kristie Ortega for running another fine event.

Got The Warped Wood Woes?

By Roger LongCertified Instructor

One of the main concerns of all cue owners is straightness. How straight is your cue? How straight can you logically expect it to be? How straight does it actually need to be?

It seems that most players want and expect their cues to be perfectly straight. Some even believe that they own such a cue. But the truth is, perfectly straight cues are very rare. Oh, they all start out straight enough, but most don’t stay that way for very long. That’s because cues are made out of wood, and wood is a natural product that is subject to changes in its physical properties that coincide with changes in atmospheric conditions. Wood-workers call these changes, “movement.”

As mentioned, a small amount of movement in wood is to be expected. Most of the time, minor wood movement goes unnoticed – and is usually not of any great concern even if it does get noticed. This is especially true of large objects, such as furniture. However, small amounts of movement are more easily detect-able when they occur in small objects, such as pool cues. In either case, minor movements like shrinking, swelling, elongating, and bend-ing do not affect the overall integrity of the product. Besides, more often than not, those conditions are usually temporary, as they are prone to change with the weather.

So let’s take a look at what really should be of

major concern to cue owners.

Unevenly grained woods that have been im-properly dried and turned, can, and most often will, result in problems like splitting, cracking, twisting, and warping. Those problems are not only serious, they are permanent. Once they set in, there is no way to make them right again. Fortunately, those problems usually occur in high production cues that are very low in price. (They’re low in price because they start out as poor woods and then get cranked out like popcorn.)

It is rare to encounter serious problems in custom-built cues because custom cue mak-ers start with select hardwoods, and then after a long period of aging, turn the woods slowly and carefully. That’s why the end product is the most stable that it can possible be. That’s also one of the main reasons why custom made cues command high prices.

Now let’s get back to the minor stuff.

Players come to me all the time with cues that they think are warped. The first thing I do is take the cues to a pool table and roll the cue while watching the ends of it to see if either lifts off the surface of the table. Then I un-screw the cue and roll both pieces separately while bending at the waist and looking at the bottom side of the rolling piece to see if any

light shines through along its length. This helps me determine whether the problem is in the shaft, or the butt, or both. Eighty-percent of the time the problem is in the shaft, and another eighty-percent of the time the problem is not a warp, it is just a wobble. “Wobble” is a pool player’s term that describes a slight bend in the wood.

Now the question becomes, “How will that wobble affect my shooting?”

The answer to that question is, “Not one bit — unless you allow it.”

You see, when you set up for a shot, the first thing you do is place your bridge-hand down on the table in such a manner that it will point the tip of the cue at the exact spot on the cue ball that you want to hit. Now if you have a straight stroke, you will be pulling the cue straight back and then pushing it straight for-ward again. Stroking in that manner means that the tip is forced to come back to the exact spot on the cue ball that your bridge-hand set up for. It doesn’t matter how bent, warped, or twisted the cue or shaft may be – the tip has to come back to its original starting position.

So stop worrying so much about your non-perfect cue. You’re not perfect. Your game isn’t perfect. So why do you expect your cue to be perfect?

Now that Bull Shooters has added two more Diamond bar tables, bringing their total to eight, owner Mike Bates is ready to implement his plan for a new type of pool league.

The league in question will be called the Masters Pool League. But don’t let the name mislead you. Bates knows that the league cannot possibly start up with all top level players, so he is not even attempting to set qualification standards for the first season. Instead, he is encouraging players of any and all skill levels to sign up, and see if they can be picked for a team.

Picked?

That’s right. That’s the “new” part of this league. It will be a draft league in which players are cho-sen for teams, very much the way it is done when playing sandlot baseball and football.

The way it works is this: From the list of sign-ups, a panel of experts will identify the top eight players. Those eight players will be designated as captains, and those captains will choose three other players from the list to play for their teams. But it will not be a free-for-all pick; there will be a selection order that will have to be followed. This will take place on “Draft Night.”

A couple of other things that are new and differ-ent about this league are that players’ dues are collected all at the beginning of the season and those monies, along with money added by Bull Shooters, goes to pay only the top four teams at the end of the short, 10-week season. That formula guarantees a first-place prize of $2,000 – another first for local league pool.

The draft process will be repeated at the beginning of each new season.

“We’ve been running a draft league in darts for over twenty-five years,” says Bates “so there’s no reason to believe it can’t be just as successful in pool.” He adds, “The draft system guarantees that nobody will be able to stack a team with killer players and then run over everybody season after season.”

The draft also eliminates the need for handicaps. The very structure of the system allows for true parity be-tween teams.

And then there is the added incentive for all play-ers to become the best they can be if they wish to consistently be picked for a team.

The deadline for first-season sign-ups is midnight, December 14, and Draft Night is scheduled for 7:00pm, December 17.

League play will begin 7:00pm, Thursday, January 7.

54 players turned out for the APA sessional Captain’s Tournament last month held at Main Street Billiards. The ‘once a session’ appreciation tournament is the largest tournament that the Local APA league holds 3 times per year. This seeded tournament has become very popular with the APA players and it showcases some of our best players, said Gina Nowlin, phoenix’s local league operator. Some of APA’s finest players came out for a great day of quality com-petition and fun. Several of APA’s lower ranked players also had a great outing, some of them placing in the top 8 spots, proving that the Equalizer Handicap System that APA uses allows everyone a chance to win.

The Captains tournament is held each session at Main Street Billiards and is a tournament that was created to show appreciation for captains in the APA. Gina says the captains are the players that are the most valuable person on a team. They are the ones that keep things organized and flowing smoothly on league nights. They have a lot of responsibility and we just want to show them some appreciation. This tournament has become very popular and has grown each session since it began 3 years ago. Division Rep of the year - Charles Doyle

APA Phoenix Metro held their 3nd Annual ‘Division Rep Awards ceremony and party last month at The Q & Brew in Tempe. We wanted to show appreciation to the people who help us run the league the most, said Gina Nowlin, the APA league operator here in the Phoenix Area. The Division Reps in our league are the ‘go between people’ for the league office and the teams who are playing in the bars on league night. They are the ones that field most of the questions and take care of the small problems before they become big problems, said Gina. They also are a very big help when we run our Championship tournaments, serving as referees and assisting with the general operation of the tournaments. This is just our way of saying thanks for what you guys do for us. Without your help, we would not be the league that we have become over the last few years, she said.

The Ceremony started with a short meeting, discussing some of the goals that APA has for the next year, and reaffirming the commitment of being the best league out there for the players. After the meeting, Pizza was delivered and the fun started. Several of our reps played on Single Qualifier Boards (The first step for the individual player to receive a paid trip to Vegas) and awards were handed out for the Division Reps accomplishments over the past year. This year we began a new traditional of awarding the top performing Rep a special award, naming them ‘The Division Rep of the Year’. Along with the title came what we call the ‘Eagle’ trophy and $100 cash. We were proud to be able to award Charles Doyle with the honors this first year, said Gina. Charles has been the anchor for our league this past year with his efforts in all the aspects of being a Division Representative. Among the accomplishments he has made for the league this year, he has led all others in Single Qualifier boards. He has also been a big part of your tournament team, helping to make sure that everything runs as smooth as possible. Each and every one of our Division Reps and tour-nament crew has been invaluable to Doug and myself over the last year, Gina said. They all deserve the award and we look forward to the upcoming year to see who the best will be in our Representative group. Thank you all.

The evening ended with 4 of our reps earning free single qualifier boards. These boards allow the player to shoot in a regional event and the winner of their skill level tier goes to Vegas on the APA.

Brinkmann Wins at Skip & Jan’s

Evan Brinkmann avenged his only loss, on his way to winning Skip & Jan’s 7’s Only event on November 21st.

That loss for Brinkmann came in the final four on the winner’s side, when he lost to Heather Torpin-Cortez 7-6. Torpin-Cortez went on from that match to lose to Nathan Johnson hill-hill for the hot-seat.

Brinkmann didn’t miss a beat, as he went to the left side of the board and eliminated Aaron Henry 7-5, Joe Chyzy 7-0 and then Torpin-Cortez 7-4 in the semi-finals.

Instead of two races to seven, the final match was one race to 13 and it came down to the wire with Brinkmann beating Johnson 13-12 for first place.

Manny Luevano crushed a field of nineteen players to win Kolby’s 8 & Under One Pocket Event on November 28th.

Luevano, one of the top 8 rated one pocket players in the state, dropped one game on his way to the hot-seat, which he took with a 3-0 win over Al Whistler. Luevano’s total game record when he took the hot-seat was 9 wins to 1 loss.

On the one loss side, Ron Casner was waiting for Whistler. Whistler had sent Casner to the one loss side earlier in the event, but Casner got the last laugh as he eliminated Whistler in third place.

In the finals, Casner was able to hand Manny his second lost game, but couldn’t complete the deal and lost the match to Manny in one set 2-1.

Preacher Ronn Returns

Some pool players would look to a vacation as a chance to get away from pool. That was not the case for one pocket aficionado “Preacher” Runn Rutan in No-vember as his vacation turned into a trip back to Arizona to see friends and snap off Bullshooters’ One Pocket Madness event on November 14th.

Preacher Ronn was one of the biggest proponents of One Pocket in the Valley for many years, and he showed his game hasn’t lost a step as he cruised to the hot-seat, which he won with a 2-1 scoreline over Paul Feltman Sr.

On the one loss side, Manny Luevano was on a roll. After losing his first match of the day, Luevano had won five matches in a row and was looking to elimi-nate Feltman and take his shot at Rutan in the finals. That wouldn’t happen, as Feltman sent Luevano to the rail in 3rd place 2-1.

The final race to three was more a match of attrition as the long day seemed to get the better of Feltman. He held his own early, to tie the match at 1-1, but Rutan then ran away with the final two games 9-0 and 9-1 for the 3-1 victory.

Complete Payouts:1st Ronn Rutan $2302nd Paul Feltman Sr. $1703rd Manny Luevano $1104th Eric Young $70

Arizona Billiard & Dart News December 2015

Mike, what if anything would you want the newer players to know about the Master’s League?

First, I would want them to know the facts about the league.

It is the longest running soft tip league in Arizona, the only soft tip league in the National Dart Hall of Fame, over 600 different players have played in the A’s & B’s, 34 players have made Team USA and finally, in 70 seasons, 700 weeks, 14,700 games, we have never had a forfeit.

I don’t feel that some of the players today get what the Master’s League has paved the way for them to excel at the highest level possible, no mat-ter where they started out. We have players that started out at a 2.4 level and have won major tournaments.

Arizona has the best players in the country and the league has been the major factor in building that.

When you play with and against great players, your games moves to a higher level. Keep playing low players and you will never get any better. That’s a fact that I will argue with anyone.

Is the league the only cause? Heck no, but it has a lasting affect that you can’t help but want to get better by playing in it.

Is it perfect? No, but 25 years and 70 seasons says we are doing something right.

The only thing I hope for some of the players is that they stop whining about little things and take the game seri-ously.

In our ten week season, we paid out approximately $10,000 in cash, put out over $2,000 in food, over $1,000 in 70th season shirts, and $720 in hats.

Craft Wins the Hard Way

Daric Craft kept to his recent winning ways, with a run through the one loss side to win Kolby’s 9’s & Under event on November 21st.

Things didn’t look all that bright for Craft early on, as he lost his first match of the day to Jeremy Gibbs. Gibbs would stay undefeated until the hot-seat match, which he lost to Jide Okuneye.

Craft got back on track on the left side of the board with notable wins over Jack Scerca, Eric Nordstrom and then Gibbs in the semi-final match.

Craft came into the finals with momentum, and he took full advantage with 7-2 and 7-1 wins over Okuneye for first place.

After a 2-0 victory over Emilio Maestes by Emmons in the semi-final match, Emmons and Dickinson got back together for the next five games.

Foos PulseFoosball News

By Jim King

Hello freakin’ foosball fanatics! WOW…there is a LOT of foosball activity and excitement taking place in the Valley of the Sun. Foos Bowl XIV just wrapped up two weekends ago, the Phoenix Tour and King of the Ring events are heading down the homestretch, and both Saturday Scrimmages and the new Interim League just launched. Needless to say, if anyone is looking to start, improve, or rekindle their foosball skills there is no shortage of tour-naments and events here in Phoenix.

FOOS BOWL XIVThe “Foos Bowl” is simply the hip name for the Arizona Foosball League Champion-ships! It features all the finals events (for both individual league titles, and the coveted league champion team title), and also includes the initial Interim League events, which are open to all players (including those who have never played in the AZ Foosball League). This season’s Foos Bowl was hosted by Stinger’s Sports Bar in Peoria, and set a record for both attendance and payouts! Over 50 foosers were on hand during the course of the day-long event.

The results of this season’s Foos Bowl were quite alarming when a new team, Claim Jump-ers, representing the Eastern Conference, defeated the well seasoned Western Confer-ence champions, Money Shot, rather easily in the championship match. The Claim Jump-ers, consisting of Chris Petit, Carl Townsend, and Adame Gano, used their fast paced and non-traditional game to hand Bill Nolan, Mike Miller, and Afshin Mirzazadeh an unexpected upset and take home the 2015 Summer League Championship.

Following are the individual championship titles that were at stake and played just prior to the main event:• League Stud: Ricky Chun (Eastern) de-

feated Juan Gallardo from the West• Doubles: Ricky Chun defeated Steve

Mathews• Goalie War: Afshin Mirzazadeh (West)

defeated Rulon Smith• Rollerball: Daniel Ramirez (West) defeat-

ed Carl Townsend and Adame Gano• Forward Shootout: Colten Dusenberry

(West) defeated Nolan Gorney hailing from the East

• 5 Bar War: Jeff Minnig from the West de-feated Noel Rooney representing the East

• Singles: Afshin Mirzazadeh defeated Paul Freund from the East

• Hired Gun: Ken Oglesby led all substitutes

with a record of 38-27• Most Improved Player: Afshin Mirzazadeh

was voted the most improved by his peers in the league

PHOENIX TOURThe Phoenix Tour is an ongoing promotion where players compete in doubles tournaments all around the Phoenix area and are rated for overall performance during a three month stretch of events. There are two main prizes for each session - one for the overall champion, and another for the highest placing rookie.

The ‘Tour’ just completed 27 events out of a planned 33 and the title spots are still in the running. Last session’s tour champion and cur-rent title holder, professional Bryan Hendricks, is in the lead this time around with 223 points with rookie Bob Duncan following closely with 207. Needless to say, Bob is in first place for the Rookie category but could win it all if he has a good showing over the last six events. Following is the balance of players rounding out the top ten.

3. Rissa Veloso (veteran): 179 pts4. Ronnie Garrett (veteran): 136 pts.5. Jim King (veteran): 126 pts.6. Afshin Mirzazadeh (rookie): 123 pts.7. Nick Bourdos (veteran): 113 pts.8. Adrienne McCormick (rookie): 109 pts.9. Holly Minnig (veteran): 108 pts.10. Eric Friesen (veteran): 106 pts.

To date we’ve had 91 foosers taking part in the tour, which really exhibits how far-reaching the word has spread about these great ven-ues. This in turn has a very positive effect on growing our foosball community and making it more fun and rewarding for everyone involved.

KING OF THE RINGThis event is similar to the Phoenix Tour but is focused on singles tournaments. A unique twist of this event is that the top six finishing players (most points) are invited to a playoff in a handicapped round-robin format. Pros must score 8, Experts 7, Amateurs 6, and Begin-ners 5. After the round-robin the top two will square off in the final with the same handicap rules. However the finals are goalie’s delight, meaning if you score from the pits you get the ball in the pits to start the next point. Cur-rently the top six are: 1. Nick Bourdos: 61 pts.2. Brad Chamberlain: 54 pts.3. Jim King: 52 pts.4. Bob Duncan: 49 pts.5. Pat Cain: 42 pts.6. Mike Sames: 37 pts.

INTERIM LEAGUEThe Interim League is a series of tournaments that take place in between official AZ Foosball League sessions that use the league handicap rating system. It’s a great way to keep up with league action, meet new players and new teammates, and just have some fun! The new

session kicked off immediately after the cham-pionship match of Foos Bowl XIV on Saturday, November 21st. There were 16 Doubles teams and 25 Singles players partaking in the intense competition. Obviously this was a tremendous start to this venue and there’s no reason to think that it won’t continue. And…speaking of continuing, this event now consists of two weekly venues, one in the East valley at Main Street Billiards on Wednesday nights at 7:00 and a new West valley location at Stinger’s Sport Bar on Saturday afternoons at 3:00. (Please see the following section for more details on the Saturday Scrimmages!).

Also, I was ‘highly encouraged’ to mention that rookies Adrienne McCormick and Leanne Diliberto pulled off a stunning victory during their doubles match against a much more sea-soned team, which will go unnamed to protect their egos! However, I must also state that since this is a handicapped event I predict there will be more ‘stunning’ upsets throughout this session of the Interim League.

SATURDAY SCRIMMAGESAt long last, Interim League play is coming to the West valley! After several years of great success with the Interim League in Mesa, Arizona Foosball has found sponsorship to carry the action across town. Stinger’s Sports Bar will host a league handicapped event every Saturday afternoon at 3:30 PM. But there is more!

The Saturday Scrimmages have been targeted for new and rookie players and will feature weekly lessons by local experts and profes-sionals. The Arizona Foosball League point handicapping system will be utilized, allowing both veterans and rookies to participate on an even field. Incentives will also be provided for directors to enlist new players. Players will be able to register for events and check the inter-est list (other players interested in playing) both online and via text message. Event types may change from week to week, so be sure to check the “Coming Events” section on the website for the latest information. And make sure you are registered in order to receive notifications of new events and to enable easy “register-by-text”.

Once again, if anyone is interested in getting involved in any of the previously mentioned venues in any capacity, visit www.Arizo-naFoosball.com and register using the current signup sheet, post in our forums, or contact Bill Nolan at 602-751-8818.

Remember…Keep Foosin’ Fun!
