Aya Ishizuka M.Sc. I hope to take part in research that will inform the Japanese government and the society on an effective and strategic investments for improving the lives of the people around the world. NARRATIVE CV With a broad range of experience through grass roots, bilateral, and multilateral agencies, Ms. Aya Ishizuka brings with her over ten years as a global health and development specialist in resource poor settings. She began her career as a health education volunteer in rural Nepal, where she witnessed firsthand the difficulties in ensuring adequate health services and healthy life for its citizens when the government’s priorities are not necessarily focused on health. Since then, she has been an advocate for delivering basic health services to the most vulnerable and bringing health as a priority agenda in the countries she has served. She has worked as a Global Health Associate at a health advocating NGO, RESULTS Japan, a Health Specialist at the World Bank, and an Associate Health Expert at Japan International Cooperation Agency before switching over to a career in research. She is currently a fulltime Research Fellow at the University of Tokyo’s Department of Global Health Policy where she has researched into the role of Japanese leadership in the area of global health. She is also an Adjunct Lecturer at Aoyama Gakuin University, where she was formerly an Assistant Professor, and a part-time Research Fellow of Institute for Global Health Policy Research (iGHP) under the Bureau of International Health Cooperation at the National Center for Global Health and Medicine (NCGM).
