The Dual-Port DS3 Controller Card is a key compo-

nent of the AxxiusTM 800 Access Integration

Platform, delivering a cost-effective, compact solu-

tion that supports advanced voice and data services

on a single platform, while turning previously wasted

    bandwidth into new revenues.

Combined functionality with full 3/1/0 cross-connect capabilityThe Axxius 800 with a DS3 Controller replaces back-

    to-back M13 multiplexers and provides 3/1/0 cross-

connect capability to groom DS1 and DS0 services.

It also offers service providers the ability to provide

fractional T1 and DS0 level services in a single plat-

form while continuing to fully utilize the available

DS3 bandwidth. In addition, it can operate as a DS3

add/drop multiplexer, delivering T1/FT1 tributaries to

remote cell sites or customer locations. With a DS3

Controller, the Axxius 800 supports up to 32 T1

ports. With two DS3 Controllers protection and

    redundancy is achieved.

    The DS3 Controller features two DS3 ports with inte-grated CSUs and a built-in, full, non-blocking 3/1/0

    cross-connect matrix. It provides connectivity

between the Controllers two DS3 ports and any of

the eight Service Card slots. The DS3 Controller also

connects to the Control Panel Interface Card for

physical termination of the on-board DS3 circuits

and access to the RS-232 and Ethernet management

    interfaces.

    Configuration and remote management func-tionality

The DS3 Controller has several local and remote

management options available. Front-panel LEDsquickly communicate alarm, system, and DS3 line

status. The Controller can be configured and man-

aged locally through the RS-232 or Ethernet man-

agement connections on the Control Panel Interface

Card using a Command Line Interface (CLI).

A number of remote management options are avail-

able to reduce truck roll costs for most maintenance

and troubleshooting activities. The in-band DS0

management channel on the Controller delivers 64

Kbps of remote access to the Axxius 800 without

incurring additional facility costs. Alternatively, a

separate Ethernet facility can be deployed to support

out-of-band SNMP network management. TheController can also be accessed through the V.34

dial-in modem connection from the Single-Channel

POTS Service Card with V.34 Modem.

Generate new voice and data services and revenues on a singleplatform while capitalizing on wasted bandwidth

What makes the Axxius 800 with DS3 Controller Card different: Consolidates bandwidth delivery, grooming, and management functions of multiple boxes into one 2 RU

    platform

Compact, single-box solution that allows service providers to optimize T1 access facilities and deliver

additional revenue-generating services at dramatically lower costs

Rescues up to 35% or more of network bandwidth commonly wasted at the cell site or when providing

fractional T1 service redistributes residual bandwidth improving network efficiency and maximizing leased

    lines

Extends DCS capabilities to cell sites, POPs and COLOs, enabling previously unused DS0s to be used to

    deliver revenue-generating services

Supports addition of new T1 services with existing T1 circuits
