Subject: Honors Anatomy and Physiology 3/31/2015 Topic/Theme Duration Tuesday Axial Skeleton: Vertebral Column Essential Question(s) What are the bones of vertebral column? What are the significant features of cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebrae that aid in identification of these bones? Standards 1.) 6.) Identify bones that compose the skeletal system Key Student Learning Objectives Students will be able to identify bones of vertebral column: cervical (including C1, C2, thoracic, and lumbar. Students will be able to identify major features of vertebrae Sequence of Key Learning Activities 1. Bell Ringer: review bones of the skull 2. Notes: Vertebral Column Students will create own notes using ARI “Keeper” strategy (word builder, summarizer, keeper, questioner) Use “ I do, we do , you do” to demonstrate strategy 3. Exploring the vertebral column Students will use site to sketch and label vertebrae for notes 4. Practice labeling bones, as time allows 5.
