What is an AXES paragraph?
AAssertion, Claim or topic sentence. This is an argument you are making within this paragraph. It is not a summary of something in the novel, but a claim you are making to support your thesis.
X eXample, A quote or fact from a source to support your assertion
E Explanation What does your quote or fact prove? This is your analysis of what your example means.
S Significance... This is the "So What?" of your paragraph. Why is this important? What does it relate to?
Pro ConWhat activity would
you master, and what are some ways you could simplify your life to do so? Use the text to support the idea that a person can become an expert at something just by practicing extensively.
