Emme For doing her personal best with her Procedure writing on ‘How to make a Milkshake’. It was well written and thought out. Keep up the great work, Emme! Rylie H For being a co-operative and resilient class member. Rylie shows the school values of Respect, Resilience, Personal Best and Co-Operation on a daily basis. Daniel For tremendous co-operation skills in setting up bat tennis tournaments throughout the week. Josh For considering others and showing kindness to younger students. He conducted himself as a positive role model within our school. CLASSROOM ACHIEVEMENT AWARDS Lily D For working really hard to improve her handwriting and writing interesting and thoughtful dairy pieces. Lilly L For making a fantastic effort in completing her Mini-Beasts Project on Lady Bugs. Lilly showed great determination and improved her handwriting tenfold. Well done! Kaiya For displaying maturity and showing that she is a true friend to her classmates. She is a peacemaker and someone who can be relied upon to always be there for others. Well done and keep it up, Kaiya! Chelsea For completing challenging mathematical equations involving money. Chelsea can accurately solve equations involving dollars and cents. Well done Chelsea. Brianne For showing great enthusiasm and organisational skills setting up activities for her passion project on horses. Grade 5/6 For managing their class time effectively to ensure they complete all set tasks. They have all shown positivity and commitment during a busy time.

SCHOOL VALUES AWARDS

Zac K – For making the kinder students feel welcome in

our classroom and helping them to learn our rules and

complete the set activities.

Lachie – For always wanting to complete his personal

best and complete work in the time given. Lachie begins

work promptly and organises the tools he need to

succeed. Well done!

25 NIGHTS OF READING

Congratulations to Ada, Russell, Maddison, Emme, Kaiya

and Ryder who have completed 25 nights of reading this

term.

PEN LICENCE

Congratulations to Ben, Grace B, Sam D and

Paddy C who all received their pen licence at

assembly on Monday.

2020 WHOLE SCHOOL ORGANISATION

Michelle Caldwell will work across the school

on Tuesday and Wednesdays.

We have advertised our Music, Art and Indonesian

positions. Interviews and appointments for these

positions will made before the end of the school year.

Lydia will again joins us for one day per week in 2020,

working across all classrooms.

We are working through the processes required to

confirm our Education Support Staff.

On Tuesday 10th December, students will spend time in their 2020 class. Our year 6 students will attend their

2020 secondary school.

TIMETABLE FOR TUESDAY 10th DECEMBER – ORIENTATION DAY

9.00 – 11.00: Students in 2020 classrooms

11.00 - 11.30: Recess

11.30 – 12.30: Students in 2020 classrooms

12.30 – 1.30: BBQ lunch and playtime

1.30 – 3.25: Students in 2019 classrooms.

Class lists will be sent home on Monday, indicating placement for 2020. Allocation of students to classrooms

involves many hours of work, with consideration of academic, social, student leaderships / role model

opportunities amongst the factors taken into account.

THANK YOU MORNING TEA

We are hosting a Morning Tea to say thank you to all of the school and wider community people who have

helped us out this year. As an expression of our thanks, parents are invited to come along and enjoy a cuppa

and a bite to eat. Please come along tomorrow, Friday 6th December, from 11.15am, we are looking forward

to seeing you.

We are fortunate to have help in so many different areas. These include but are not limited to: classroom

reading, excursions and sports days, Breakfast Club, PVF – meetings and fundraising activities, gardening,

band assistance / support, raffles, Special Person’s High Tea and Breakfast, BBQ’s, special lunch days and

donations.

MUSIC NIGHT

Last night we were entertained by our many wonderful musicians. I am

always amazed at the confidence displayed by our students as they stand up

in front of large crowds and perform. Thank you to the teachers who are

involved in our Music Program. We are fortunate to offer tuition in guitar

(Jo Woodward), drums (Dave Dewar), keyboard (Rachelle Mav) and voice

(Lou MacGregor). Choir and band have continued to be led by Michelle

Caldwell and Kaine Marsh.

An extra thank you to Dave for providing such great sound and setting up

on the day.

Thank you to our parents and wider community members who support this

program throughout the year.

We look forward to offering music tuition, choir and band again in 2020.

PREP DINNER

Our Prep Dinner is on tomorrow, Friday 6th

December. Preps will stay at school from 3.30 and

will enjoy some after school activities before

enjoying a meal together and a little bit of DVD

time. Pick up is 7.00pm. Ms Saunders, Mrs T and

Mr C will be here on the night.

OUT OF UNIFORM DAY – FRIDAY 29th

NOVEMBER

Last Friday 29th November we held an out of

uniform day to raise money for the fire affected

areas of Australia. The students in the Grade 5/6

room held a vote and decided to send our donation

to Wildlife Rescue and Recovery. In total $277.80

was raised on the day. Thanks for your support.

END OF YEAR REPORTING

As mentioned in a previous newsletter, written reports will be sent home next Friday 13th December.

Interviews will be conducted on a needs basis only. If you would like to request a Parent Teacher Interview,

please speak to your child’s classroom teacher to arrange a suitable time. Some classroom teachers have

requested interviews and these will be organised tomorrow.

AXEDALE COMMUNITY CAROLS

This Sunday 8th December the Community Carols will be held at the Axedale Park. Information about the

evening is included later in the newsletter. Choir members are asked to meet Mrs Caldwell at 6.45pm. Students

who are not involved in the choir are invited to participate in the community songs. Students in grades 2/3 and

3/4 have been learning a Christmas song in Indonesian and will perform this at the carols.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT

We will be holding our End of Year Concert in the Axedale Hall. This year the concert will be on Wednesday

18th December, will begin at 6.45pm and will run for approximately one and a half hours. Each grade will

perform a number of items and we will also present our end of year awards. Families are invited to share a

picnic tea in the park prior to the start of the concert.

LIBRARY BOOKS

Students are asked to return any school library books so Deb can complete her end of year audit. Students and

parents are asked to check at home and return any books. Thanks for your help with this.

KINDER TRANSITION

It was exciting to have our 2020 Prep students join us again today. We are now looking forward to having

them here on Tuesday 10th December, as part of our whole school transition morning. I look forward to

meeting parents of our Prep students at the brief information session on Tuesday at 9.15am.

CHRISTMAS HAMPER

Yes it is that time of year again. We are asking families to contribute a non-perishable item to

our Christmas Hampers. It would be good to see lots of Christmas themed and holiday items.

Tickets for the raffle have been sent home. The raffle will be drawn at the final assembly on

Thursday 19th December.

GRADE 6 GRADUATION DINNER

Thank you to all Grade 6 families for their prompt payment of tickets for our graduation dinner.

We are looking forward to celebrating this milestone together on Tuesday 17th December.

2020 PARENT PAYMENT FORMS

These are now overdue. Please take the time to look through this information, fill out your preferred option

and return to school ASAP. Thanks for your assistance with this. Please note book packs are ordered for all

students from our supplier to ensure value for money and consistency with supplies.

The Book Pack collection day will be Wednesday 22nd January from 9.30am – 2pm.

FAMILY ACCOUNTS

Families who are still to pay for 2019 expenses are

asked to settle these accounts by the end of

November to allow the school to plan for 2020.

Accounts have been issued for those families who

have outstanding amounts. Please see Katrina in the

office if you have any queries.

PARENT WORKSHOP

On Orientation Day, our Student Well-Being

Worker Ricky Cawley is hosting a ‘Starting School’

session for parents of incoming Prep students. The

session, to be held at the Tavern from 9.45am –

11.45am, will be run by CentaCare Family Services

and will focus on feelings around the transition to

school, common concerns parents have about their

child starting school and practical ideas for how to

make the transition easier.

Following the session, parents are encouraged to

attend the 2020 Prep Information session at the

school from 12.00 – 12.20pm, followed by a BBQ

lunch.

Thank you to all our wonderful families and fantastic community for their support, we are looking forward to

seeing what our final fundraising total is.

Thank you also to Bendigo Hire who donated the toilet for our Colour Fun Run and contributed to making the

day so successful.

STUDENT BANKING

Our school banking day is Tuesday. Interested students can apply online, at any Commonwealth Bank branch,

over the phone, or via a paper-based application available from the office.

The majority of our families have now signed up for our school app and are finding it is a

great way of staying in touch with easy access to newsletters, receiving calendar updates

direct to your phone and entering absence notes. It is also the way we send our alerts and

reminders.

To download the app just visit the App Store for iPhones or Google Play for Android’s.

Search for Updat-ed and from the menu select our school. We’ll receive your registration

request and will need to approve you before your app is up and running.

FRUIT DUTY

Fruit will be provided during lunch and afternoon recess each Friday. Thanks to our volunteers for preparing

the fruit.

Breakfast Club is run on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. All students are welcome to come along and

Axedale Primary School is a keen supporter of Zoos Victoria mobile phone recycling complain.

They're calling you aims to raise awareness of the threats gorillas face from mining while raising money to

support primate conservation and divert phones from landfill.

All smart phones, mobile phones, tablets and accessories such as chargers in ANY condition are accepted.

To protect data, it is recommended to conduct a factory reset before donating your phone.

Let's support endangered species programs and donate any phones that are hanging around your house.....they

are full of heavy metals that can be recycled!! The phone collection tub is located across from the school office

on the sports memorabilia display area.

PARENTS, VOLUNTEERS & FRIENDS As is customary, there will be a BBQ lunch on Orientation Day – December 10th. From 12.30pm

students will be able to have a sausage in bread. Families may wish to send other food on the day.

Parents of 2020 Prep students are encouraged to come along and meet with staff and parents in

attendance. PVF is looking of a couple of volunteers to help with cooking the BBQ. Help is required

from approx. 11.30 – 1.00pm.

Christmas Raffle – we will again be conducting a Christmas Raffle – to be drawn at the end of year

concert on Wednesday 18th December. Families are asked to donate an item to go towards a number

of hampers that will be made up. Raffle tickets for hampers have been sent home with the newsletter

today. Tickets and Hamper items are required by Friday December 13th.
