Justification of the study

• The study provides baseline information on mothers level of awareness on PMTCT.

• This study may be helpful to increase the awareness level of the mother regarding prevention and control of PMTCT.

• Provides evidence to policy makers and program designers to make informed policies and programs regarding mother awareness on PMTCT.

• The level of awareness among mothers on PMTCT is low.

ObjectivesGeneral Objective • To asses the level of awareness among the

mother on PMTCT of HIV and the factors related with the level of awareness.

Specific Objectives• To assess the level of awareness among

mothers on PMTCT of HIV .• To identify the factors related with the level of

awareness on PMTCT of HIV.• To relate the socio demographic

characteristics with the level of awareness among mothers on PMTCT of HIV.

Methods and MaterialsDesign of the study• Descriptive, cross-sectional .

Study Population :• Population- all the mothers visiting Gynae

and Obs Department of SSMC and MH from January ,2016 to December , 2016

• Sample- All mothers attending in Gynae and Obs Department of SSMC and MH will be included until the desired number of sample met.

• Sampling technique- Convenient

Eligibility criteriaInclusion Criteria • Mothers visiting Gynae and Obs dept. of

SSMC and MH• Mothers willing to participate in the study• Mothers who can understand the nature and

purpose of the study.

Exclusion Criteria• Mothers who are severely ill.• Mothers who cant understand the importance

of the study.• Mothers previously exposed with the same

nature of the study.

• Semi structured pre tested Interview Questionnaire with both open ended and close ended questions will be chosen as research instrument for data collection.

Data analysis

• Analysis will be done according to specific objectives.

• Descriptive , Chi square and multiple regression statistics will be used appropriately

• Microsoft access , Microsoft excel , Microsoft Word ,SPSS, Epi - info will be used.

Validity of the research tool The content validity -review of the literature

consultation with concerned advisor, subject teacher, guides and experts.

Pre-testing of the research tool• Will be conducted in the same hospital. Sample size-

10% of the total sample

Ethical considerations

• Formal approval will be obtained from concerned authority.

• Verbal consent will be taken from each respondent.• Confidentiality, privacy , anonymity will be

maintained thorough out the study.• Respondent will be given right to participate in the

study or discontinue at any time.• Assurance - If you not take part in the interview it

will not hamper your treatment• This study will do good for the mother , community

and society rather then any harm.
