FLL Robotics Team Wins Top Programming Award On Saturday, 30th November, the College Robotics Club participated at the FIRST LEGO League Regional Championship, held at St Stephen’s School, Carramar. FIRST LEGO League is a competition for students aged 9-16, which focuses on four components consisting of core values, STEM project presentation, robot design judging and robot games. Core values such as Gracious Professionalism is part of the ethos of FIRST LEGO League. It's a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasises the value of others, and respects individuals and the community. Tournaments are run with the feel of a sporting event, and teams compete intensely while having a wonderful time. Congratulations to our Robotics Team who won the prestigious Programming Award. This Award recognises a team that utilises outstanding programming principles, including clear, concise and reusable code, that allows their robot to perform challenge missions autonomously and consistently. The judges were so impressed by the refreshing and innovative programming approach which they had not seen before.

Young Vinnies Group The Young Vinnies Group turned their focus to raising funds for feminine hygiene products in Semester 2. Through a combination of jelly, brownie and ice-cream cone sales, we raised $394 and filled a bag with products that will no doubt be greatly appreciated by the community. A core group of students consisting of Kirsty Carmichael, Emelie Matthew, Kady Scott and Robyn Wolmarans have shown great commitment and dedication to the cause, and should be deservedly proud of all they have done this year to help our local community. Throughout the year Simon Furneau, Ella Lemson, Vivien Lettner and Natasha Pereira, have shown their support, helping to make jelly, scoop cones or handle the change, and this earned them some valuable service hours towards their Irene’s Service Learning Program. As a new initiative this year, it has been wonderful to see what a difference a small group of dedicated students can make, and it is my hope that we will be able to continue and expand this project in 2020. Thank you to the College students for supporting us in all our drives this year. Mrs Victoria Wagenaar Mathematics Teacher
