Want to know how to respond to “have you ever been convicted of a felony?” CJCJ is a non-profit nonpartisan organization whose mission is to reduce society’s reliance on incarceration as a solution to social problems. In pursuit of this mission, CJCJ provides direct services, technical assistance, and policy analyses that work in unison to promote a balanced and humane criminal justice system designed to reduce incarceration and enhance long-term public safety. The workshop consists of:

• Life assessment: Who am I? • Skills, interests, abilities inventory • Creating a positive vision of oneself • Targeting clear goals for the future • Motivation and confidence building • Communication skills enhancement • Problem-solving • Stress reduction • Conflict resolution • Personal poise development • Job finding tools and techniques • Application procedures • Resume writing • Job interview practice • Follow-up job counseling • Hard-to-answer question

Eligibility: Participants must be sober, and certified homeless. Priority given to individuals demonstrating a strong desire to change.

Intake: Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm The next workshop is scheduled for: DATE: TIME:

The workshop is 5 days long. It occurs from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Clients must register in-person before the session and again on Monday at 8:00 am. The workshop is limited to approximately 15 people per session, so final registration is based on first come, first serve basis.

Full-time attendance is required. Lunch and snacks are served, and all needed materials are provided.

The program relies on the active participation of each group member. One-way “teacher-student” lectures are held to a minimum. The workshop is taught by a team of staff members who involve participants in discussions, writing, drawing, and role-playing. Special sessions involve guest lecturers, the screening of videotapes, and the videotaping of mock job interviews.

The end result is to prepare client for employment – how to seek, obtain, and keep a job.
