GeorgiaThe most you can get a ticket for even a first time offense in Georgia is $1,000. You can also face a
jail sentence of up to one year. Driving more recklessly can cause a mandatory 6 month license
revocation.
IllinoisThe maximum speed on a four-lane highway in Illinois is 65 mph for passenger vehicles and 55
mph. It is one of 1 of 25 states with a point system for license suspensions and revocations. A
maximum traffic citation of $1,000.
NevadaGambling with police officers may not work as
Nevada is a point system state with a penalty of suspension for 6 months to 1 year. Earn enough
points and face a jail sentence of 6 months along with a fine.
New HampshireDriving carelessly in New Hampshire can cost up to $1,000 and failure to drive 10 mph below the
speed limit in school zones can cause you a penalty.
North CarolinaDriving too fast in the Tar Heel State can give you a jail sentence of up to 60 days while a school bus
with children on board is limited to 45 mph. Breaking any traffic laws can cost up to $1,000.
UtahWhile the speed limit in Utah has been raised to
75 mph in some areas, the fines are also big. Drivers can get ticketed for going too slow as a result of impeding or blocking the normal and
reasonable movement of traffic.
OregonThough traffic violations can cost up to $600 it
also takes a lot to lose your license. Oregon generally waits for numerous violations before
issuing any suspensions.
IndianaFines can quickly add up for speeding in Indiana. They
double in school zones and go up another $25 near construction sites. “Oversize vehicles” can’t exceed 45 mph. And Indiana is the only state besides New Jersey
and Nebraska to impose tolls along Interstate 80.
KansasIn an urban school district zone in Kansas the speed limit can’t be less than 20 mph and the most you could ever get from a traffic ticket is
$500.
MarylandMaryland is serious about school zone fines for speeders as violators can get hit with a ticket up to $500. However Wal-Mart executives may be
exempt from being charge as high.
