1 Dear All Hope you all must have had a good time reading our maiden issue, last month. I hope you are suitably nourished with good thoughts and learning from our first issue. For me it was quite a setback, not even a single reader have commented/suggested back ([email protected]) on the issue. I was wondering/analyzing what must have happened? Did everyone get a chance to open and read, or did they not understand the spirit of newsletter? Or, is it likely that it did not reach you in right spirit or it was not enterprising? Or where you all just merely lazy enough not to respond? Ya! Then, I made my own conclusion or learning that this is all part of initial launch/marketing error. But, I am not going to give up so easily; I will just stick to this and remain persevering and make this a mega hit. So “perseverance” is my key, not in me alone but in everyone’s life. Especially at Stellence!! We all know that. We must have read the king of Scotland (Robert the Bruce) and the spider story in our school days (try, try again until you succeed) or we must have read about various big brand products like WD-40 (they succeeded in their 40 th attempt), Dyson vacuums (they have tested 5,271 prototypes before the final) & Apple (Steve Jobs). What do they have in common, the spirit of continuous effort and not to feel let down nor remain low, even in the hardest of times. Especially being an integral part of Stellence; you all know that this company’s main strength is its patience and the ability to persevere and remain focused!! You may be immediately thinking that all of this is all good in words and on paper but how practical can we be in today’s agenda of life; where we keep changing and altering day to day. My dear friends and fellow Stellencians – please do understand the clear line of difference between necessity and objective. What is going on in your mind now is indicative of the necessity and what I am trying to tell you is indicative of the objective. What is objective? It is nothing but setting up the goals, it can be something from getting a first day first show ticket of Rajanikanth movie or travel to Mars and back or to invent something unique which will make humans fly or ……., YES, it can be anything from being an hourly to daily to monthly to yearly to life time objective. In my simple example, we all must have boarded a bus/train in the last minute or sometimes on the move, after late start or heavy traffic or heavy rain, and sprinting the last few yards with all our energy and focus. Yes we did achieve our objective (boarding the train/bus), traffic or rain (obstacles), sprinting (perseverance), and we all must have had the happy/pleasant/victorious moment soon as we boarded the train/bus. (For those who have missed the bus/train - they still must have reached their destination, by boarding or hopping on to the next possible transport). This is something we should have in all aspects of our life, to persist and to add to our effort in achieving our goals! Molecule from malaria parasite attracts hungry mosquitoes

Finding explains why female mosquitoes prefer to feed on blood cells infected

with malaria (E)-4-hydroxy-3-methyl-but-2-enyl pyrophosphate (HMBPP), a

molecule made by P. falciparum, explains this mysterious attraction that helps

spread malaria. Mosquitoes preferred to consume red blood cells laced with

HMBPP, doubling their intake compared with HMBPP-free cells.

Nappy tech: inspired by babies

At the P&G Nappy Research and Development Centre in Schwalbach, Germany,

around 250 researchers, part of a global team of over 800 scientists, ranging

from dermatologists and chemists to material engineers, are designing the

nappies of the future. The creative power of this team has enabled P&G to file

more than 5000 nappy-improving patents. (Source: New Scientist, 2017)

Bacteria 'sleep', then rapidly evolve, to survive antibiotic treatments

Using quantitative approaches from physics, biophysicists discovered a

surprising way that bacteria can evolve resistance to antibiotics. After evolving

a sleeping mechanism, the bacteria can then wake up and evolve resistance 20

times faster than normal -- at which point continuing to administer antibiotics

won't kill the bacteria.(Source: Science Daily 2017)
