procedures for handling a range of different passengers with special needs.

♠ V.V.I.Ps & V.I.Ps♠ C.I.P-Commercially important persons♠ UNMs -Unaccompanied minors♠ Infirm & invalid passengers♠ Mentally challenged passengers♠ Expectant mothers♠ Mothers with infants & small children♠ Deportees

VIP • The passengers are boarded last and

deplaned first at the destination. Very often extra security accompanies the flights in which these passengers are travelling.

• Special menus, extra crew are sometimes provided on these flights.

• The passengers who fall into these categories are:

• Presidents & Head states of countries

• Prime ministers & Head of governments

• Vice Presidents• Royal visitors & members of Royal

families• Governors of states & Cabinet

UNACCOMPANIED MINOR • The passenger who is below the age of

eighteen & travelling alone is usually classified by most airlines as an unaccompanied minor.

• The passenger is boarded first & Deplaned Last.

• The ground staff hands over the minor to the cabin crew in charge of the Zone/section in which the minor is to be seated.

• All papers & documentation are given to the cabin Crew. They are to be checked thoroughly

• Emergency procedures such as fastening of seat belts, usage of oxygen mask is told to the UNM.

• The location of the galley, toilets, and crew seats is shown to the UNM.

• Giveways like toys & books are given to keep the UNM occupied.

IDENTIFICATION & HANDLING

• A passenger who is below the age of eighteen & travelling alone is usually classified as an Unaccompanied minor or UNM.

• ‘Giveaways’ like toys & books are given to keep the UNM occupied.

• Take the special care of UNM.

EMBARKATION & DISEMBARKATION

• The passenger is boarded first & deplaned last.• The ground staff hands over the minor to the

MENTALLY CHALLENGED PAX

• Boarded first • Deplaned last • May be accompanied by

their relatives, doctor or nurse

• Seated close to the toilet

• Diet should be checked • Full/ Extra assistance

should be given

May look physically fit but unable to look after themselves independently

Deportees

A person with invalid immigration documents or one who is being sent back to his country of origin because of some legal or security matters is known as deportees!

HANDLING OF DEPORTEES

• The deportee he/she is accompanied by extra security.• They are boarded last & deplaned last.• The senior cabin crew handles all the documents of

deportees.• These passengers are usually seated near galley area.• The cabin crews should observe them in flight .• Cabin crews should not serve alcoholic drinks to deportees.• Deportees are not permitted to deplane at transit halts.
