FAQ – July 2014 Q. What is the new AviatCARE Educate Certification program? How is it different from prior certification from Aviat Networks? A. Aviat Networks is introducing the new AviatCARE EDUCATE Certification plan with a goal to develop a community that can nurture learners and provide ongoing guidance and learning on the latest Aviat products and related technologies.

At the same time, Aviat wants to ensure that the learning and certification is aligned with the job functions of various individuals. There is renewed focus on blended learning - using the latest technologies to deliver content including ELearning and mobile learning.

Our prior certification program had just one level of certification that has met our current training needs but this program needed modifications to accommodate a bigger learner pool.

Q. What are the benefits of AviatCARE certification? Staying on top of the technical content and getting the knowhow on the latest enhancements in products and technologies is very important to get the best value out of Aviat products. The certification program provides learning maps to make it easy for individuals to understand the path they need to adopt and provides the tests and recognition that the individual has the knowledge and mastery of the content.

Aviat Networks is uniquely positioned with products that have tight integration of both microwave and IP technologies.

An Aviat Certified individual demonstrates the knowledge of both microwave and IP technologies which is a much needed requirement with our customers and within the industry as legacy TDM parts of microwave networks migrate towards IP.

Certified individuals count towards the recognition of an Aviat reseller’s capabilities to design, install, optimize and support Aviat products.

Aviat Customers trust certified individuals as having demonstrated the capabilities to handle Aviat products. A certification will provide individuals the much needed confidence to approach and leverage new business opportunities in selling and supporting products with our global pool of customers.

There are three product tracks: Microwave Switching, Microwave Routing and Microwave Trunking.

Individuals can choose one or more product tracks and complete learning and certification for the ANA, ACI, and ACOS levels to get the desired learning.

The ACDS and ACE certifications are product agnostic and require a reasonable level of understanding and experience with all products and functions prior to certification.

Q. What are the qualifying criteria for these certifications? Each certification level has a learning map assigned to it. Learners can choose a product track (one or more) to complete the learning and exams starting with the Associate level certification.

Next steps are to choose learning maps for their functional role – Install, Operations, or Design – or all. There is no restriction on the number of simultaneous tracks you can pursue as long as the learning prerequisites that are specified in the learning map are met.

Q. When is the certification plan available? The Associate level certification will be available starting July 2014. Additional tracks and certifications will be released between August and Dec 2014. Please review the roadmap on the AviatCare Educate for the updated timelines.

Q. What is the validity for the certification? Each certification level is valid for two (2) years from date of certification. You must have continuing learning credits and recertify every two years to keep the certification current. This recertification applies to the highest level of certification.

For example, if you have achieved ACOS or ACI or ACDS, you need to recertify at this level and do not need to recertify at the lower ANA level.

Similarly, if you have achieved ACE level, you need to recertify at this level and do not need to recertify at the ACOS, ACI, ACDS, or the ANA levels.

Q. How do I pay for the ELearning courses? Please visit the AviatCare Educate site for more details of how to sign up and pay for the certification courses:

Q. What are the languages used for the learning and certification program? Currently, only English is the supported language for this program.

Q. What is the typical time and budget requirement for an ANA level certification? The total cost of the modules and exams would be approximately US$500.

Q. What is the typical time and budget requirement for an ACOS level certification? A typical Associate level (Aviat Certified Operate Specialist) certification on the Microwave switching track involves the following:

o About six E-learning modules and an exam per module for the Aviat Network Associate (ANA) track which is a pre-requisite.

Q. I have already attended Eclipse and ProVision course, do I need to still take additional courses to certify? A. You have probably covered over 80% of the course material required for the Associate and Operate Specialist level courses. However, depending on the amount of time that has lapsed since you attended the classes, Aviat may suggest additional learning. Please consult the AviatCare Educate Certification desk to identify the additional course material and exams you need to cover to get certified.

Q. Is the company or the individual certified?

A. The individual who attends the course is certified and not the company. This means that certification can be taken with you if you happen to move to a different company. If you move company you should inform Aviat networks of any new contact details to ensure information and updates are still received.

Q. Is there a different certification program for reseller partners? No. Aviat Networks Certification programs are the same for employees, partners and customers. Aviat makes available the same certifications for its customers and partners that it provides for its employees. Aviat provides customer and partners and technical communities with the same access to skill credentials, knowledge, tools and resources that Aviat employees have. This translates to a significant advantage to doing business with Aviat over other vendors. Different business programs may authorize resellers, service providers, customers and employees, but the certification of technical skills required is consistent across audiences.
