Avgoustos Psillas Sound Designer for Autograph Avgoustos joined the Autograph sound design team in 2008. Autograph is a leading British sound design and equipment hire company, responsible for numerous theatre productions at home and abroad including: Les Misérables, Wicked, Billy Elliot, Mamma Mia!, Shrek, The Wizard of Oz, Dirty Dancing, The Lion King, Rock of Ages and many others. Avgoustos started his career in the world of sound as an assistant recording engineer and producer in Cyprus. Alongside his studio work he toured Europe with the internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble Diastasis as a sound designer and operator. His career continued in the UK at the MTV Broadcast Services and later at the Royal College of Music in London, as the studio manager. During his five years there, he also designed and taught the music technology course at Imperial College. Since joining Autograph, Avgoustos’ theatre work includes: Monty Python’s Spamalot (UK tour); Legally Blonde (UK tour); Sondheim at 80 concerts of Merrily We Roll Along and Company (Queen’s Theatre); Holding the Man and Being Shakespeare (Trafalgar Studio 1); Pygmalion (Garrick Theatre); Aladdin, Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella (Hackney Empire); Laurence Olivier Awards in 2009, 2010 and 2011. As an associate designer he has worked on Jerusalem (Shaftesbury Apollo); Top Girls (Trafalgar Studio 1); Passion (Donmar Warehouse); Imagine This (New London Theatre); Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (UK tour); Too Close to the Sun (Comedy Theatre); and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (Vaudeville Theatre). Avgoustos has had the privilege to work closely with artists such as Bernard Haitink, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Helmut Lachenmann and Simon Callow, and directors such as Ian Rickson, Tom Cairns, Philip Prowse and Susie McKenna. Future work includes: Being Shakespeare, South Downs/The Browning Version and the Olivier Awards ceremony 2012. Gary Adler Incidental Music Gary received his degree in Piano Performance from the University of Michigan, where he also studied music composition under William Bolcom. Gary is currently the Conductor/Musical Director of Avenue Q on Broadway. Other New York shows that he has conducted include: Chita Rivera: The Dancer’s Life, Urinetown and The Fantasticks. As a composer, he contributed to the score of the Off-Broadway hit Altar Boyz, for which he received two 2005 Drama Desk nominations for both his music and lyrics. The show itself won the 2005 Outer Critics’ Circle Award for Outstanding Off-Broadway Musical. Gary has also written songs for the television show Johnny and the Sprites on the Disney Channel (starring Avenue Q’s John Tartaglia).
