Typical Architecture / Use CaseRedundant (Hot / Stand-by) with Thin Client(s)

Redundant AVEVA Edge stations, in Hot/Stand-by configuration, connected through a TCP/IP link, sharing information in a Client/Server architecture. Even if the link between the stations is unavailable, each station still runs individually. Each one provides local monitoring and control capabilities to a individual asset (e.g.: machine, compressor, etc) or a set of assets (area, plant, facility, site, etc). Typically, the Primary (Hot) keeps updating the Secondary (Stand-by) station on value changes, and the Secondary station takes over communication only if the Primary station becomes unavailable. Thin Clients (not requiring the installation of AVEVA Edge software) can interact with the graphical interface of the application remotely using a TCP/IP link on the LAN and/or WAN.
