‘Van Mahotsav-2018’ organized at ICAR-IIPR, Kanpur
Van Mahotsav-2018 was organized at all campuses of IIPR Kanpur. The details of activities
carried out are as follows:
(i) IIPR Kanpur:
The ‘Van Mahotsav’ programme was organized during the auspicious occasion of Independence
Day on 15th
August, 2018. After the flag hoisting, all the institute staff have actively participated
in this programme. The ‘Van Mahotsav’ programme was started with plantation of Ashoka
sapling by Dr. N.P. Singh, Director, ICAR-IIPR. Total 217 tree saplings of Ashoka (88), Sagon
(80), Palash (25) and Bottle palm (24) were planted at both the campuses, Main Campus and
New Research Campus of the institute at Kanpur. Plantation was done along boundary and road
side of the farms. The programme was ended with group photograph followed by refreshment
and vote of thanks. The programme was organized/coordinated by Dr. Narendra Kumar,
Principal Scientist.
(ii) Regional Research Centre, Phanda, Bhopal
The ‘Van Mahotsav’ programme was observed during 1-7 July, 2018 at this centre. During the
period tree samplings were planted along boundary and road side of the campus. However, a
formal programme was organized during 11 July, 2018. Sri Gulab Singh Mawada, President,
Kisan Sangh, Phanda Vikas Khand, Bhopal and progressing farmers (men & women) were
participated in this programme. Total 650 saplings of Pipal, Bargad, Kadam, Gular, Amaltas,
Gulmohar, Shisham, Karanj, Amla and Jamun were planted at this campus. An awareness
campaign on tree plantation and its importance was also carried out among farmers.
(iii) Regional Research Centre, Dharwad
The ‘Van Mahotsav’ programme was organized on 24.7.18. Dr. S.T. Kajjidoni, Asst. Director of
Research (HQ), Dr. V.S. Patil, Sr. Farm Superintendent, Dr. S.J. Patil Professor and Dr. S.T.
Hundekar, Professor, Agroforesrty Division from UAS, Dharwad were invited for the
programme. All the staff members of RRC Dharawd have actively participated in this
programme. A banner depicting the organizing the ‘Van Mahotasav 2018’ at RRC, Dharwad was
prepared and displayed at the RRC building to create awareness among the visitors. During the
program total 78 tree saplings of Silver oak and Teak were planted along the boundary walls.
Flower bearing trees like Pride of India, Champak, Cassia and African tulip saplings were
planted around the office buildings. Dr. S.T. Kajjidoni, Asst. Director of Research (HQ)
expressed satisfaction and appreciated the ICAR-IIPR for various ongoing developmental and
research activities at RRC Dharwad.
