immediately north of the U.S.-Mexico
border. San Ysidro is home to the busiest
land border crossings in the Western
Hemisphere. This border location sees
over 25 million vehicles and 100 million
people annually.
San Ysidro Land Port of Entry Expansion Project
This fully-funded, $625 million project is a bi-
national effort between the United States and
Mexico governments which will renovate, expand
and modernize the current port of entry. These
efforts are based on the expanding use of this
border crossing which, according to the San Diego
Association of Governments (SANDAG) is
projected to increase by 87% by 2030. The third
and final phase of this project is scheduled to
begin in the Spring of 2019.
