Autumn Term Class Report to Governors – Emeralds
Emeralds have had a very busy start to the new year. We haven’t just been busy with our
English and Maths learning but we have worked hard to develop our understanding of
plants in Science and explored the forest in our Forest School sessions.
Our School
We started by learning about our school and the local area surrounding it, we discussed
north, east, south and west. The children each thought of what they saw on their journeys.
The children created things that they saw on their journeys to school out of playdough that we
made during a Thrive session.
Mathematics
In maths the children have working on their number formation and ordering numbers. The
practical activities are always a hit with the Emeralds!
English
The children have enjoyed our English topic All About Me. We have also worked hard on our
phonics this term in both Emeralds 1 and 2.
The children were engaged measuring and sorting a variety of objects from around the
classroom. They also have been working hard using different resources when writing their
numbers.
Forest School
This term the children have been on an outdoor observational walk to identify the signs of
autumn. We also went on a bug hunt, we worked in pairs to record what insects and
minibeasts we found on tick sheets when back in class.
The children in Emeralds really their time in the forest and
exploring the school grounds.
THRIVE
The children in Emeralds have thoroughly enjoyed Thrive this term, it is by far one of their
favourite activities. They have made bracelets, baked and decorated cakes, made masks and
played games focussed on sharing.
The children have enjoyed interventions such as Peer Massage, Build to Express
and Sensory Play.
