9th SeptemberDiabel Cissokho & Ramon Goose

DJ Bobbalin’ Hot (Rea River Soul / Mama Feel Good!)“a flavoursome mix of slide guitar, mellow kora and undulating Mandinka rhythms” (fRoots)

Ramon Goose (Nublues; guitarist with Eric Burdon, The Blind Boys of Alabama, Pee Wee Ellis) teams up with Senegalese kora player Diabel Cissokho (kora player for Baba Maal), combining the beauty of West African music with the soul of the Blues.

11th NovemberCrossroad Collision

DJ Zuppa IngleseSteve Yimga’s blistering African drumming is the focal point of this Afro fusion band, which combines elements of jazz, world rhythms and African beats. Watching Crossroad Collision perform is exhilarating. Front man Steve Yimga is captivating, but every member of the band is a key player, and the audience never feels left out.

9th DecemberBarker & Moon feat. Mostafa Abbasi-Zadeh / Village Well

DJ Zuppa Inglese“The strings are as quiet as snowflakes one minute, booming like a storm the next… [Mostafa Abassi-Zadeh’s] dexterity is effortless, his artistry unassuming.” Guardian

A duo with dynamic energy and exquisite interplay, the instrumentation roots the sound of Barker & Moon in the Middle East but the musical influences and repertoire are wide ranging. Original compositions, blues, and traditional tunes from Ireland, the Balkans and Africa alongside a Middle Eastern classical repertoire.

The creations of Village Well – whether gypsy or jazz, folk or classical, pop or traditional – retain a contemporary vitality. Rich Middle Eastern melodies combine with the classical and folk traditions of India and soulfully blend with the free spirited rhythms of the Caribbean to create a superb music from diverse cultural traditions.
