Jesus loves me!

I had just announced our song, “Jesus loves me, this I know, and the Bible tells me so”, when a parishioner walked quickly down the aisle, stood in front of me and presented me with a red rose. I accepted the rose with a light heart and a wide grin. Anglican life is rarely dull! However, the best was yet to come! As I accepted the rose, she asked in a loud voice, “Bishop, do you love Jesus?” To the unexpected question I quickly affirmed, “Yes, I love Jesus!” The congregation was all smiles as I stood there in all my Episcopal glory, holding a red rose.Expecting the parishioner to return to her pew, I announced our song for a second time. But the woman (who had remained standing in front of me) repeated her question in a booming voice, “Bishop, do you love Jesus?” “Yes”, I replied in a loud voice and again with a wide smile, “I love Jesus!”Satisfied at last, she then walked back to her pew and turned to face me as I finished announcing for the third time our song, “Jesus loves me, this I know, and the Bible tells me so”.At this point I confess that I was feeling a little relieved as I was not sure where the previous questions might have led. But just then, she shouted out for the entire world to hear, “Bishop, I love Jesus too!”Well, you can imagine, the congregation erupted with joy, laughter, clapping and enthusiastically affirmed our forthright Sister. This was an undoubted “God-moment” and the angels in heaven would have danced wildly! Our celebration of “Jesus loves me!” is central to our great Christian festivals of Christmas and Easter. The joy of the coming of Jesus Christ to a humble stable in Bethlehem, the unjust and cruel death of the Preacher of the Sermon on the Mount, the world changing resurrection and glorious ascension, all sound out “Jesus loves me!”This is the Good News that we proclaim. And like the Anglican parishioner in Tasmania, we look for the response, “Yes, I love Jesus!” BCA Missioners and supporters, let us all work and pray for the positive response of every heart to God’s glorious act of love in Christ Jesus. There is no greater task!May the Holy Spirit empower and bless our mission.

Pray for growth in Christ, understanding of the Bible, ministry skills and ability to share what they learn in their churches.

AprilPray that many Indigenous people will decide to follow Jesus when they hear the Good News of the Easter message as it is preached this Easter. Pray for Indigenous clergy as they prepare for their Easter services throughout Australia.

MayPray that God will bless the work of Indigenous Chaplains like Grant Hay and Alfrene Wright as they serve God in prisons, hospitals and schools in different places. Ask God to call others to serve as Chaplains to Indigenous people.

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.” 1 Peter 3:18

MarchPlease pray for our new parish council. Pray that God will give us wisdom as we plan to reach Exmouth for Christ this year. Please pray that the parish council and the wider church would be enthusiastic and bold to proclaim the life saving message of Christ.

AprilOur Church will be running two outdoor services for Easter this year. Pray that these will run smoothly, that the gospel is proclaimed clearly and that we have appropriate follow up activities for anyone who might be looking to investigate the events of the cross more deeply.

MayAs the many visitors flow into our town pray that we will be a welcoming church. Please pray that we will have a mutually encouraging time with the visitors who join us each Sunday. Pray that we will not neglect reaching out to the “locals” of our town at this time.

ProfileExmouth is located 1250km north of Perth. Famous for the Ningaloo reef and Cape Range National Park, thousands of visitors flock to Exmouth every year boosting the town’s regular population of approximately 2500 people. Locals are involved in industries such as tourism, fishing, and maintenance of the nearby Naval Base and support services that go along with all of these things. Exmouth Anglican Community Church seeks to proclaim Jesus in this context.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” Romans 1:16

MarchPlease pray for good cohesion between the new people in church and the existing–that we would reflect the family of God and be a good support to one another. Pray for preparations for Easter next month.

AprilPlease pray for an effective and fruitful Easter outreach as we celebrate the most significant thing God has done for us. May we be a church that understands the significance of the gospel and the importance of sharing it with our community and families.

MayPlease pray for effective outreach during the tourist season with the coffee van, especially with the opportunities we have during the Ord Valley Muster. Pray for good attendance and preparation for the church camp coming up in June. Please pray as we start up our 5pm Café Church again this month.

ProfileSt James Kununurra meets each Sunday - 8am (during tourist season), 9:30am every Sunday and 5pm Café Church (from May to October).Kununurra is a magnificent part of God’s creation with many beautiful sites to visit and things to see. Kununurra is surrounded by irrigated farm land with an abundance of fresh water from Lake Argyle Dam and the Ord River. Farming is a fast growing industry in our region along with tourism and mining.

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3

MarchPray that new people joining the church will be warmly welcomed and encouraged to use their gifts as other people leave. Pray for the women’s Bible study groups that they will grow in spiritual wisdom and in their passion to reach out to other mums in the community.

AprilGive thanks for the many opportunities we have in our community over Easter to proclaim the gospel message. Pray for a spiritual awakening of people’s hearts and minds to the claims of Jesus and that they will repent and believe.

MayPray for Eion Simmons and his family as we work together in proclaiming the gospel in Hedland. Pray that our home groups will continue to grow in their passion to live life in a Christian community and study God’s Word.

ProfilePort Hedland is a typical mining town with a transient population who come with dreams of financial security and material possessions providing them with the joy that only God can bring. Many have young children and no extended family nearby which presents unique challenges but also opportunities for friendships and gospel ministry. May the gospel reveal the emptiness of dreams of material wealth as well as highlight the treasure of Jesus and the joy of being part of a church family.

“Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.” John 13:16

MarchPraise God for the numerous ministry opportunities open to us here in this beautiful place. Pray for wisdom for us to discern what to take on in ministry and what to let go of. Pray for continued diligence for the church here to keep reading and studying God’s life changing word.

AprilHe is Risen Indeed … Alleluia! Pray for a great outpouring of The Holy Spirit as we out reach this Easter. May lives be redeemed and transformed. Pray for us as we then head to Ravenswood for the marriage of our third son Hamish to Rachel. Derek is honoured to be marrying them.

MayThank God as we once more host the “Men of Iron” camp where all the men of the Anglican churches in the Pilbara are invited to a weekend of great fellowship and profound teaching. This year’s guest speaker is Marty Ford from Trinity Theological College. Give thanks for the children at our church.

ProfileWe feel so blessed to be here in the heart of the Pilbara. Newman is a mining town that, due to the isolation, has a real sense of community. The population is very young and the town is full of children. The majority of high schoolers go to boarding school which means there are few teenagers. As a church family, we have people from all over the world that come from many different denominational backgrounds, which is a wonderful blessing. We invite you to join Newman Anglican Church on Facebook.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come; the old has gone, the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17

MarchThank God for His ongoing enabling and upholding through the many difficulties of Pilbara life. Pray that God will stir up His people to love and good works as they interact with their friends, neighbours and workmates.

AprilThank God for the end of Cyclone Season and for the coming of the cooler weather. Pray that we will use the extra freedom that the cooler weather brings for His glory and the extension of the Kingdom of God in Karratha.

MayThank God for those who will visit with us on holidays this year. Pray that we will be proactive in reaching out to the many travellers who will pass through the town and that those who have come to stay will find a true Bible believing and spiritual home.

ProfileKarratha is the residential, educational and service centre for the West Pilbara region. Dampier is a major port for the export of iron ore, salt, and natural gas. The Dampier Seafarers’ Centre services thousands of visiting seafarers every year. Pray for the Chaplain, Ian McGilvray and his wife Susan as they undertake this vital and very demanding ministry; they are also valuable members of our congregation. Long work hours, high pay, ‘extreme’ materialism and secularism are constant barriers that only the gospel of Jesus can overcome.

Diocese of North West Australia The Rt Revd Gary Nelson

“So he reasoned in the synagogue with both Jews and God-fearing Greeks, as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there.” Acts 17:17

MarchGive thanks for the resources that God has given us, most especially for the gift of His Son. Pray for creativity and energy in finding ways to reach more people with the saving news of King Jesus. Pray that the gospel transforms us - growing us to be more like Christ. Pray for opportunities this Easter.

AprilGive thanks for opportunities to reach people as they move into new houses. Pray that there will be Christians who can reach their neighbours for Christ’s kingdom and join us in worshiping him together. Pray that we will grow together as servant-hearted people.

MayGive thanks for all those who pray for us and support us in prayer and for our fellow workers. Pray that while we plant and water well, God will give growth. Pray that our marriage grows stronger and that we raise our children to love and serve Christ.

ProfileDavid is continuing his Ministry Training Arrangement working as an evangelist and church planter in the South of Geraldton. This is a growing area with no established churches. The ministry is only beginning to take shape, but it is built on the solid foundation of Christ Jesus and grown by His word. David is married to Traci and they have two children (Daphne -3 years and Edward -3 months).

“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.” Romans 10:9-10

MarchPray for a well attended AGM where wise and godly decisions are made. Also thank God for the connections His people have with non-believers in these towns and pray that His people here will have beautiful feet as we share the news of Jesus with others. Pray for wisdom in what ministries to pursue.

AprilThank God for our friends Matt, Wayne and Gary who have visited the Pilbara over Feb-March to help Dave with ministry in Priya’s absence. Please especially uphold the Bootsmas in prayer as they minister to the people of Paraburdoo and Tom Price while we are on leave for the birth of our first child.

MayPlease pray for ongoing fruit from the Bootsma’s ministry over Easter and Anzac day. Also pray for Priya as she moves back to town. Pray that she will be a godly mum and make many solid gospel connections through the various mums and bubs groups in town.

ProfilePriya was required to leave Paraburdoo in early January because of possible birth complications, while Dave has stayed on in the Pilbara. We are thankful for our families in Sydney who are caring for Priya, and friends from there and WA who have visited the Pilbara to give Dave a hand while he is without Priya. The new year brings many opportunities for ministry to us and the people we fellowship with here. Thank you for upholding God’s people here in your prayers.

MarchPray for the Corner family, as Brendan and Kim have moved from the South Coast of NSW to establish the first of our micro-industries–a wood shop creating furniture from reclaimed materials and the use of traditional timbers for carving. Pray for their family as they build relationships. Pray that we can assist local men and boys in developing trade skills, a new love of learning and discovering their own value and worth in their families and community.

AprilPray for our work to establish a united community response to the increase of methamphetamine use in the area and its hugely destructive impact among a diverse range of people. Give thanks for links with the ‘Fresh Start’ programme in Perth and pray for those receiving naltrexone implants, specialised counselling and ongoing support in Rehabilitation. Pray for the funding of this work and give thanks for the generosity of the Christian folk who operate this Centre as a ministry.

MayPray for preparations for the first Youthworks College Mission that will see over 30 Diploma students coming each year to support ministry of the gospel to the Aboriginal community in Wickham and Roebourne and also to outlying communities, including Tom Price and Paraburdoo.

ProfileWickham is a mining town 1600kms north of Perth, and 50kms from Karratha. With the neighbouring towns of Roebourne and Point Samson there is a combined population of over 4000.

MarchPlease give thanks for our preparation for work in the four Dioceses in which we will serve. Please pray as we commence our ministry that we will gain a big picture view of the work of BCA so that we are prepared to speak on a wide range of BCA activities in our region and beyond.

AprilPlease pray as we meet with and work with the Regional Committee and the National board, that we will become part of the team supporting the work of BCA. Pray that we will balance our work with the commitments of travel and visiting a number of churches and those serving in the field.

MayAs we continue to visit the Field Staff and see their work in the context in which they serve, please pray that we form strong bonds with the people and their ministries and that we find ways to meet their various needs. Give thanks for the work of Helen Spring in the office.

MarchPray for the new school Principal as he settles in. May the Christian community work well together in presenting the message of Jesus to the school students in our term Religious Instruction.

AprilThe Opal Festival around Easter is significant as this was when opal was discovered in Coober Pedy in 1915. A team from The Camden Haven church in NSW is coming to help run activities, that surprise, surprise–will focus on treasure in heaven and not on treasure on earth. See Bible verse above!!

MayGod willing it will be starting to cool down and there will be follow up from Easter time. Please pray for the many tourists, that they would look at our giveaway books and tracts and be challenged to think about God. Our most popular tract is “Jesus for Skeptics”. May God use these for His glory.

ProfileMining for opal has occurred now for 100 years in Coober Pedy. There is a diverse population with about 3,000 people and 40 different nationalities. Many past residents will return this year with major celebrations at Australia Day and Easter. But like in much of Australia, materialism is a powerful idol, with church attendance low. We give thanks for 1.5 years of alcohol restrictions in our town, which has reduced public drunkenness, and perhaps even private drunkenness!

Pray that we continue to trust God through the tough times and that God will continue to use even Brad’s aggressive Psoriatic Arthritis for His glory.

AprilPraise God for Jesus’ victory over sin and death. Thank Him for generously including all who trust in Jesus. Please pray with us that God will revive His people and reveal His glory through the resurrection of His Son. Pray that all the churches on the island will faithfully present Christ this Easter.

MayPray for families who attend Mainly Music. May God continue to work in the lives of all at Mainly Music, tugging at the strings of their hearts. Pray that we may know him deeply.

ProfileThe community of Kangaroo Island has 4,500 people with around 600 children in the schools. Primary industries include agriculture, fishing and tourism. The Anglican Parish includes St Alban’s in Kingscote, St Columba’s in Penneshaw and St Richard’s in Parndana. We are enjoying ministering alongside the existing congregations whilst also making new connections within the community. “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 3:14-15

MarchOur Diocesan Centenary celebrations open with a “simultaneous shared lunch” on the 15th and we will grow in God’s Word with Matt Anstey on the 19-22nd. Pray that we will worship God joyfully, proclaim His Word boldly and serve with compassion that the gospel may be proclaimed and His kingdom will grow.

AprilEaster has been: we rejoice in sin and death dealt with and new life assured in Christ Jesus. Pray that we will so live lives powered by the resurrection hope that all in Roxby Downs, Olympic Dam, Andamooka and Woomera will be drawn to know and follow Jesus.

MaySynod–pray for us developing the Diocesan Strategic Mission Plan. Joel and Hannah are developing their ministry with us – a ‘taste and see’. Pray for us building our team. Owen is busy preparing for Co-Opera and the Magic Flute–great fun and great contacts.

ProfileRoxby Downs is steadying at about 4000 people who are young and energetic. The Olympic Dam operations are tighter and slimmer. There is always uncertainty in the mining industry and its support organisations in town. We, the people of RDCCC seek to live out the certain hope in Jesus and under God be salt and light as we serve Him in the community so that “all may glorify our Father in heaven.”

April2015 is the Centenary of the Diocese of Willochra. Synod will be held on the 1st-3rd May. Pray that wise kingdom building decisions will be made. Pray that all the centenary events will be a time of glory to God.

MayPray for Barry as he has returned to study. Please pray that he will have clarity and understanding.

ProfileBarry and Avril have spent the past 25 years in Roxby Downs. They have raised their 3 children there - Adam (24) married to Cara, Paul (22) and girlfriend Sherin and Keren (18), still live in Roxby. Barry has worked at the Olympic Dam Mine site in various roles and in January 2012 was appointed the Site Chaplain, working for the Diocese of Willochra. Barry was ordained in Port Pirie Anglican Cathedral in November 2013 and continues his theological studies. “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:10-11

MarchPray that Peter and the Diocese can find more mines and more Chaplains, so we can begin to take the Word of God further afield. Pray that mines across Australia will see the need for Chaplains.

AprilPlease pray for Easter services held on mine sites and for Peter to present the gospel in a way that will make sense to the mine workers. Also pray for Peter as he visits churches around SA, that he will be able to bring churches and miners together.

MayPlease pray for quality time at home with Joy. Peter gets so involved in mining and the people he forgets to relax and take time to just be. Pray that he spends time at the feet of Jesus to learn and rest. Pray for our relationship with our families whom we miss and don’t see very often.

ProfileWe are privileged to be able to spread God’s word to those in the mining industry. We are also thankful for you who are reading this now and praying for us–thank you, partners. This is long term ministry, and sometimes feels very lonely and often frustrating. Sarah enjoys her work in retail in Brisbane. Joshua has started an apprenticeship welding and working toward a boilermaker’s ticket in Darwin working for a Christian boss. Joy continues to support Peter with the mining ministry.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” Romans 1:16

MarchAs we settle in to Roxby Downs, pray that we will build good relationships within the church and wider community and be unashamed witnesses of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for our children, that they will have friends to walk with in the Lord.

AprilPray that we will boldly proclaim the gospel of God so that the residents of Roxby Downs will become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Please pray that we will be an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

MayPray for wisdom as we discern how our gifts can be best used during our time in Roxby Downs. Pray for the brothers and sisters here that they will grow to become the mature body of Christ. Praise our God who is able to keep us from stumbling and keep us for glory with Him in Christ.

AprilPray for the BCA Victoria Annual Meeting and Dinner on May 1 and for speakers John Harris, Neville Naden and Joy Sandefur. Thank God for Aboriginal evangelists and pray that their example will spur us all on in our evangelism.

MayPray for the Bishops of Ballarat, Bendigo, Wangaratta and Gippsland, that they will lead their clergy and lay people in a fresh wave of evangelism and discipleship. Pray for evangelists and evangelistic work in parishes, schools and universities.

ProfileVictoria has a large and growing population of 5.8 million, with 1.5 million living in regional municipalities. Sadly, a lack of evangelism and discipleship has meant that the church has contracted and lost generations. Pray for humble repentance. Also pray that we will see the Holy Spirit move through all the churches and that people will be set free and delivered.

THE BCA PRAYERLord our God, help us to remember those who live in isolated and remote parts of our land. We ask you to strengthen and encourage all whose ministries are supported by The Bush Church Aid Society. Refresh them in times of discouragement and loneliness and call others to stand with them in the task of making Christ known. Grant that, through the ministry of the Word and Sacraments, through caring service and by support for young people, the message of your redeeming love may be proclaimed and accepted by the people of our land. We ask these things through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.30 31

MarchPlease pray for our team as they continue to remain faithful to the call of God upon their lives. Pray that they will be energised to continue to see many blessings. Pray for me as I speak at the Surrender conference.

AprilThis month I will be speaking at one of our link parishes, St Matthew’s Manly. Pray that I will be a blessing to this meeting and that my group back home will be encouraged by those who will look after the church. We are having a men’s breakfast this month. Pray that we will see many men grace the door steps of our church.

MayThis month I was a guest at the Victoria Regional Annual Meeting and Dinner. I was able to do a presentation on our ministry in Broken Hill. Please pray that those in attendance were encouraged as we shared about the work amongst our Indigenous people.

ProfileA big thank you to Penrith Anglican College for their ongoing encouragement to us. We would also like to thank St Matthews at Manly for their partnership in the gospel as they visit us and help train some of our people to be better equipped in serving in the life of the church. We also mention the work of the Southeast Bendigo parish who have transformed the dining and Kitchen area at BCA House. Finally and most importantly, a big thank you to all our prayer partners. May God continue to bless you all.

“I have told you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe.” John 14:29

MarchAt this time of year there is much planning to do. What will we aim at this year? How will we meet the challenges of congregational members growing older and weaker? How will the youth group go this year? Outreach activities to aim at? Link churches to visit and be visited? And so on.

AprilThe Kids’ Club held another mission in the Easter holidays this year, with Hoxton Park Anglican Church as our guests. Pray for their follow-up and encouragement to the young seekers and for the team members who came to Hillston to assist.

MayPlease pray for our Bishop Rob Gillion in his assessment of all the situations of the Diocese. Pray for wisdom, godliness and faithfulness to the gospel, also for BCA workers in Riverina and the part they should play.

ProfileHillston is a town on the banks of the Lachlan River. It has a big agricultural focus, and a substantial sheep and cattle industry. Four churches in town are involved in ministry of the gospel to town people, farming families, and other isolated communities. There is a good degree of co-operation between the churches. Interest in Christianity has a fairly traditional perspective. However, this in itself becomes a means of opportunity for people to come into contact with the gospel of God.

MarchPray that God will guide me through my studies and that I would be disciplined and faithful for what he has led me to.

AprilPlease pray that God would continue to shape and mould me to be more like Jesus.

MayPray for me as a student minister at Living Water Fellowship, that I might learn and grow from godly example and that a response to the gospel may be evident in the Redfern community.

MarchAs we are in the season of Lent, pray for St Paul’s Church and the small village churches at Booligal, Oxley and Carrathool, that people who only come to church at special seasons will be challenged by the meaning of Easter.

AprilThank God for the open door to teach SRE in NSW schools. Pray that the good news of salvation will remain with the children and turn them to become followers of Jesus. Pray for the teachers who also hear the word week by week.

MayPray for our various contacts in the community, that God will open doors to deeper relationships where we can naturally share the gospel. Pray for wisdom and boldness on our part.

ProfileHay is in the Riverina of NSW, on the Murrumbidgee River and Sturt Highway half way between Sydney and Adelaide. After a long drought there is a positive feeling due to a good season so far and the expansion of cotton growing. A new cotton gin is under construction, to open for the 2015 season. St Paul’s Hay has a small congregation of mainly older people. There is no full time minister. Peter and Lee help in the church and take SRE classes and run an after school activity for primary students.

“While He was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with Him I am well pleased. Listen to Him!’” Matthew 17:5

MarchI hope to have represented BCA at ‘Men@Glen’, a Bible teaching conference in the Armidale Diocese, and at the Anglican Future Conference. Please also pray for the Bush & Bible Day in Brisbane held on the 21st March at which Julie and I will be introduced to supporters; and for our children studying at university.

AprilPlease pray for links to be forged with Anglican leaders, especially in my region, and that these will result in blessing for their churches and for BCA. May the conference also help BCA discern future mission possibilities.

MayPlease pray for vision: for enthusing young men and women about BCA; for new mission possibilities in the region; for meaningful ways to encourage our supporters; and for effective ways both to serve local churches with my ministry gifts and to garner new support for BCA.

ProfileGod willing, by the time this is published, Julie and I will have navigated some major life changes: leaving Tasmania after 11 years, moving to Brisbane, being without Gabbie and Jordan at home and starting a new ministry with BCA. We recognize God’s gracious leading and help in all this and go into this new season of our life together with deep thankfulness, praise and reliance on our great God for faithfulness, fruitfulness and strength. Thank you so much for going with us, in prayer and support.

MarchGive thanks for Dave’s ordination in February and for the way it allowed us to make connections with people who are not normally involved in church life. Pray for us as we settle in, meet people and make friends. Please pray for our children as they adjust to life on the island and begin preschools and playgroups.

AprilPray for our Easter and ANZAC day services, which are well attended and are a terrific opportunity to speak of the Lord Jesus. Pray for Crystal as she considers how best to love and serve other young mums and kids on the Island. Please ask the Lord to bless her efforts in this season of ‘gathering’.

MayPray for the newly appointed (part-time) ecumenical youth worker Mitchell Mahaffey (and for Dave as he supervises and trains him). Pray that the gospel will be proclaimed to the young people of Norfolk Island.

ProfileNorfolk Island is located due east of Byron Bay and has a permanent residential population of 1800, evenly split between Norfolk Islanders, Australians and New Zealanders. “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

MarchWe give thanks for the resilience of people as they continue to cope with everyday living in the bush. We praise God with the few people who have had some storms but need good follow-up rain.

AprilWe thank the Lord for the amazing prayer support we have received. This is so important to us for the strength of this continues to support us. The love and care of people makes us more aware of the love of the Lord Jesus.

MayWe pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to guide us to people and that they will know more and more of the love of the Lord Jesus. We pray that day by day we will strive to “trust and obey for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus.”

ProfileRanald and Jenny are committed Christian farmers who grow grain and live 100 kilometres north of Moree in NSW. They are involved locally and in the wider church. They come from the small parish of Boggabilla which has seven little centres and they plan with God’s help to spend more time with people. They both have a background in counselling. With BCA’s support they will be visiting farms in drought affected areas and assisting local congregations to offer care in Christ’s Name.

AprilPray that we will be making meaningful contacts and that we will attend to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

MayPray that the congregation members are growing in their faith and are eager to invite others. Pray that invitations will be accepted.

ProfileCloncurry has a population of around 4000. The average age of the community is a little lower than the Australian average. It is a service centre, has a pastoral industry and a number of mines that are serviced by FIFO’s. The Anglican church has not had a permanent priest for some time. AprilGive thanks for the influx of tourists; for the community coming together for the ‘Easter in the Outback’ and Anzac Centenary activities. Pray for continuing energy for ministry in the parish, and the continuing work in the school. Pray for the well-being of graziers and families in difficult situations.

MayGive thanks for: safe travel within the parish and throughout the Diocese for Synod; ongoing opportunities to impact people with the gospel; and contact with staff and students at school. Pray for: pleasant winter weather; successful Winton show; and opportunities for community functions.

MarchSunday 29th is the last day of our West Pymble mission. Please pray earnestly that the contacts we have made over the week will come to church, be welcomed and keep coming.

AprilPlease pray for David to have wisdom and discipline in visiting both church and community contacts, and making the most of them for the gospel. Pray also for Joanne’s refreshment at the Diocesan Clergy Wives Conference (29th-1st May).

MayPray for our branch church at Cumborah (50km away), that there will be unity in Christ in the congregation and a hunger to share the gospel so that the church grows. Some come from the Grawin opal fields too.

MarchPlease pray for the Family Op Shop ministry, for the parish volunteers to make good connections with people and for the spiritually hungry to find their way to church. Pray for the development of new initiatives in women’s ministry and for a leader to be called from within the congregation.

AprilPlease pray for the Christian meditation service as this ministry begins. Give thanks for the people with such wonderful gifts that God sends to the mission field here. Pray for the men in the church and for those being outreached. Pray for God’s blessings on families in the church.

MayPlease ask God to ignite people’s hearts to commit to regular church attendance and for having a heart for being involved in Bible study home groups. Please pray for the church’s finances to be sufficient and for the Parish Council to be wise in their decision making.

ProfileMoranbah is an exciting mission field. A mining town of around 8500 people, who mostly work in the mining industry. Last year we identified the real need for an Op Shop ministry; even though the wages are high, the industry is often unstable and many people find it hard to make ends meet. There is a real need for people to connect with each other and God. We minister to people from many denominations and cultural backgrounds. This year we long to see people connect with the heart of God!

Mrs Vivien & The Revd Martin BlebyVivien has completed her four-year term in the South Australia and Northern Territory Office. She is taking some time out to consider where God will next lead her and in the meantime is enjoying time spent with family and guests as well as attacking the many previously unattended-to jobs around the house. Martin is currently undertaking a locum at St Augustine’s church at Unley.

The Revd Ian & Mrs Glenda McGrathAfter eight years of service, Ian has concluded his contract as Queensland and Northern New South Wales Regional Officer. In early February, he took up the position of Associate Minister in the Parish of South Brisbane. Pray for many opportunities to share the gospel around the parish and that many would repent and believe and follow Jesus. Please pray for a job for Isaac in his field of mechatronic engineering. Give thanks for the joy of being grandparents to little Hailey Grace!

The Revd James & Mrs Skye CoatsJames and Skye Coats have completed their term of service as BCA Affiliates. As James and Skye continue living and serving at Holbrook

with their four daughters, pray for God’s continued guidance and strength to serve Him faithfully. Pray for good ministry partnerships and support. Pray also that God would graciously bring more people into His kingdom in Holbrook and its surrounds, so that His church there would have a bright and vibrant future.

The Revd Geoff & Mrs Sarah ChambersGeoff and Sarah Chambers have completed their term of service as BCA Affiliates. They will continue to live in Tamworth as members of the Parish of St Peter’s. Please pray for them as they adjust in this time of transition. Praise God for the provision of work for Geoff as a boarding master at a local school and pray that a suitable housing situation will come together for the family.

The Revd David & Mrs Trudy RobinsonDavid and Trudy have thoroughly enjoyed their time at Northampton and it is with great sadness that they are leaving due to David’s

poor health. They are thankful for being accepted into the community and that they were able to witness growth in some of their congregation drawing closer to the Lord. They are encouraged that the local high school has been successful in receiving a grant for a chaplain

two days a week, as has Kalbarri School so please pray that whoever is chosen will be God’s choice for the area. This will open up opportunities for youth ministry if the same person can service both communities. David and Trudy have really appreciated the wonderful prayer support received and the friendships made in the BCA family.

Central MalleeThe Uniting Church will be supplying ministry at Central Mallee from the beginning of 2015 with the appointment of The Reverend Andrew Gall.
