Two endurance-orientated showing

competitions were organised this sum-

mer by Persikland breeders(under the

control of the GECE Languedoc Rous-

sillon). August 10th at La Fichade, ho-

me of Gaetan Lamorinière and Marion

Mottoul of Lozère Endurance Equestre.

This was the regional selection for the

national competition in Florac.

And on September 5th at Ispagnac,

the always well-attended and success-

ful Alevca competition, expertly orga-

nised by Marie Maurin, opened the

festivities at the 160km Florac race…

has suffered greatly ...

This year Guilhem Rosell

from the Ell stud farm at St

Beaulize (12) died in a silly

accident. All our thoughts

are with his partner, Emma-

nuelle Oudin, and their

daughters.

who died before their time. Not forget-

ting that we had already lost Yannick

Vassas, just as we were starting our

association of breeders.. he also died

PERSIK (1969 -2001) sired 328 chevaux in 24 years of reproduction,that is,13 or 14

foals a year,of which 172 pure-bred Arabs,et 156 part-bred Arabs (105 CS, 19 SF, 9 AA, 15 PFS, 5 BA, 3 Shg) Up to now, 160 of his progeny have qualified in 119 to 160 km et 2 x 100 km, of which 33 different winners.This is a truly exceptional performance as it repre-sents half of his progeny, which does make him a legend.

Do you think our horses are still « in the running » with the increasing

speeds and size of horses? CM : Of course they are still « in the running » ! When a horse is good, it doesn’t matter if he’s small. Just look for example at our winners of this year, Assiha de Fignols and Easy Fontnoire,they are not big, and

these champions? CM : Yes, several. Particularly my special favourite, Djal-’ah’s very last foal, REVE du Sauveterre, who started his career at 7 years old.. He is my horse but I’m lending him to Lau-

Is it a bit of a love story between you and Persikland? CM : It’s true,I’ve ridden lots of excellent horses but most of them come from Persikland ! My very first victory ,already twenty years ago was with a pure « Vassas » : Diadur ! I was racing alongside Denis Pesce, my mentor, and I admit I was a bit of a passenger… then he said to me that it was the right moment to « go for it»! It was he who taught me how to win ... Then my father,seeing how keen I was, went to see Francis Poujol to choose a foal for me. In the herd he fell in love with Djal’ah whose foal was …Tango d’Ayres. This foal was already reserved but he promised us the next one: this was DYNAMIK… and everyo-ne knows that Dynamik is my horse-of-a-lifetime He performed with me, and then for the Emirates before coming back to me for his retirement-Sheikh Mohamed even gave me back the owner’s certificate ! What do you particularly like about

rent for Tartas. As for Khalil Fontnoire, Laurent will take him to Santa Susanna to try and do as well as Kilim last year
