Automation means controlling and monitoring the devices automatically or in other words a technique to make a process, devices or a system to operate automatically

Automation provides benefits to almost all the industries. Here are some examples:

Manufacturing : including food and pharmaceutical, chemical,

petroleum, pulp and paper

Transportation : including automotive, aerospace, and rail

Utilities : including water and wastewater, oil and gas, electric

power, and telecommunications

Defence : radar

Facility operations : including security, environmental control,

energy management, safety, and other building automation

Increase productivity with consistency of output

Improve quality

Increase consistency of process

Reduce labor, time and cost

Level of accuracy also increases

ADVANTAGES

DISADVANTAGES Current technology is unable to automate all desired tasks

Large initial investment

Limited level of security or security threats exist

STORES: In many supermarkets or even smaller stores are using self checkout systems

MINING: Automation is also introduce gradually in this sector as it reduces human capital as they are more prone to accidents

AUTOMATED HIGHWAYS: Automation reduces the rush on toll plaza by just sensing the vehicle number and cut the toll tax from the account of the driver

DEFENCE SECTOR: On borders by installing sensors and a automatic fencing which an prevent any infiltration

LATEST TRENDS

In next 5 years I think in defence sector automation makes a very high impact, especially in India. As terrorism is growing rapidly so there is need to protect our borders and not only in this but also defense equipments should be more technically fast and latest one.

Another sector in which automation makes a very high impact is to make our highways automated. On toll plaza every year lots of fuel is wasted which makes a bad impact on our environment as well. To save fuel and environment an automated system must be required to reduce rush on toll plaza

IN NEXT 5 YEARS…

My area of interest is robotics

If given an internship I would like to do project for our defense
