When the matter came up for hearing yesterday, our Senior Legal Counsel made the
following submissions:
(a) DESPL had undertaken gold exploration operations in Ganajur under a

Reconnaissance Permit, Prospecting Licence and thereafter applied for a MiningLease (ML) over the Ganajur Gold Project.
The Ganajur ML application has received positive approvals over time
particularly from the Indian Bureau of Mines and the Ministry of Mines,
Government of India under Section 10A(2)(b) of the Mines & Minerals
(Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 (MMDR) during 2015/2017.
The Law Department, Government of Karnataka had furnished a positive
opinion to the C & I during April, 2018 with regard to the Ganajur ML
application’s compliance with MMDR and the Rules made thereunder.
Since 2015, multiple meetings were held and several representations made to
the Secretary, C & I requesting for issue of Grant Notification Letter for the
Ganajur Gold Project.
The representation made on July 16, 2018 to the Secretary, C & I was attached
as an Annexure to the Writ of Mandamus. This letter gives a background of the
Ganajur Gold Project along with its present status, potential benefits, the
approvals it had received over time and DESPL’s concerns and requests a
positive intervention of the Secretary, C & I to issue the Grant Notification
Letter for the Ganajur Gold Project at the earliest.
It has been nearly 4 years since the original approval from the Ministry of
Mines, Government of India was received and DESPL still awaits the issue of
Grant Notification Letter for its Ganajur Gold Project from C & 1 despite the
above noted positive approvals.
We shall update our shareholders of further developments in this regard upon receipt of the
High Court’s Order.
