Following Installation, Maintenance is the next logical step for standardization:
• Provide dialog-driven PTF installation for SMP/E service as an additional function, named
Software Update, within Software Management in z/OSMF
Why?
• Quickly extends the maintenance benefits available in CA CSM to a wider audience
• Offers fresh impetus to simplifying z/OS software maintenance
• Provides a foundation from which IBM and other vendors can opt to provide further
improvements to the installation process of SMP/E PTFs

In the short to medium term, CA CSM 6.0 will continue to be supported during the transition to the
new standard. It is in a support mode only and is not being enhanced with new features.
Once the key elements are in place and accessible to our customer base, namely acquisition,
installation, configuration and maintenance, Broadcom will end support for CA CSM.
As per Broadcom policy, CA CSM 6.0 end of support will be announced 12 months before it
becomes effective.
