• An autobiography is a story of one’s own life written by oneself.

• Autobiographies have been written since A.D. 400 when an early Christian leader, Saint Augustine, wrote his.

• This text form falls under personal recounts which usually retell an event that the writer is personally involved in.

How should I start?• You should think of a catchy

introduction to begin your paragraph with. It may be:– A famous quotation– A line from a song– A thought provoking question

• What is your full name? Is there a story behind how or why you were given that name? Do you like or dislike it dislike it? Why or why not?

• What is your birthday? Is there any important celebration like Christmas, New Year’s Eve or Valentine’s day, when you were born?

• Who are your parents? Their occupations? Besides being your parents, what makes them so special to you? Have you ever received a very special gift from them?

• Who are your siblings? Are you the oldest or the youngest child? Who is your favorite brother or sister? What makes him/her your favorite?
