PREFACE
Authenticity 純正性這一詞,表達了這本書的主題跟想法, 建築（物）於城市中,透過一步步觀察解析城市本質authenticity(純正性)瞭解到城市的本質才能針對問題的核心,利用設計手法深入解決城市問題。 本書共有九個設計案，分別都透由不同切入點authentic(驗證與分析)城市,從分析中找尋案子本生的authenticity(純正性)。 將這些設計案以三個主題區分, 並非將它們完全一分而二，而是以設計案本身性質做為分類。 閱讀本書前，必須先說明作品三大性質: (a)Research、(b)Creative、(c)Execution。
Authenticity --Authentic x city
[Research]-對於議題論述的邊界以及可操作的範圍是作為研究型設計論述案關切的重點。在每個案子的起始，就對於談論的議題先有廣泛的探討研究，並在設計思考過程中，慢慢地界定議題期望論述的範圍邊界，將非關鍵性因素排除於設計案之外，藉以將整個研究的模型整理清楚，以利研究設計執行操作。
[Creative]- 圖像與模型作為設計思考過程的一種工具，並透過2D drawing與3D drawing、數位與非數位的圖像及模型的操作運用，將空間設計的可能性提升到最大。透由國際競圖,以小組的方式,藉由不同觀察層面 ，於短時間內整合設計及訓練技法 ，同時訓練一個設計案分工合作達到最大的成果效益。
[Execution]-建築除了文字間的論述,圖面上表達,模型上的渲染不外乎身體力行，體驗其中。本書記錄三個實作性質案子分別由謝英俊建築師帶領的八八風災重建,以色列bat-yam城市行動及兩大台灣義築行動。

Urbanization attracts peopleto quickly settle within a defined area. Such cluster of population leads to further development of the land. As the number and size of cities grow, the over-developed urbanlandscape begins to lower the life qualityin the metropolis. To adapt to such transformation,population migrates towards
the suburbs and consequently reduce the importance and functionalities of the city center. This later leads to the demolishmentof the city. In order to sustain the continuity of urbanization, buildings are being piled up into the sky and roads are being paved into the horizon. People look for every possible source of land in the city. Under this scenario, it is not hard to imagine when the only vacant lands are those on the rooftop of buildings (private territory) androads (public territory) When taking into account that the use of private territory often involves excessive restrictions, people are forcedto reconsider the current traffic system in the urban landscape, in another words, how to implement the concept of “roads” onto high-rise buildings.

As an essential sector of a skyscraper, the invention of elevator efficiently transport the flow of people between floors. Together with the traffic system, elevatoradjusts the movements of people, goods and wastes exist in the city. They are being transported and managed passively according to the regulating system of the metropolis.According to the current logistic system, goods are being gathered from their collection spots, through public transportationdelivered to the building and finally reach their destined floor through elevator. Urban wastes, on the other hand, travel in the opposite route. They are first transported to the recycling stations in the suburbs, delivered to the processing factories then finally, through public transportation, sent back to the city.
Such process usually takes up to 4 – 6 months.
The required resources and times for the process has not yet been
controlled and managed. The “metabolism” of urban wastes is
also rarely recognized.

未來的道路公領域中的Vertical intersection r,利用“紅綠燈”現有的控制機制,不同的路口擁有固定的週期 ,利用紅燈時間車輛占據道路面積剩的閒置面積，將車子有效的分流於Vertical intersection 中將gl上面積提供人們廢物交易利用或商業攤販行為交易…..。 Urban scraper使物流及廢物流有效的循環利用,間接影響人流車流,有效將現況城市中無效率運作的物流及廢物流效率提高, 高消費的產生的高廢物量, 一個人活動一天24hr所製造的廢物1.3kg,將廢物流於城市中快速的收集加工再製造,再提供回高消費地段的物流循環機制 ，大都會區回收業設置之合法土地不易取得，及市民對於居家品質與環保意識較為要求，因此除了住宅區中的小型中盤商外，亦有中盤商利用貨車以定時定點的方式，也提供市民可隨時隨地變賣回收物的回收GPS。

Water for the people of small rural communities is our focus.
Each fog collector is 6 m high and 10 m long.
Fog water is stored in clean tanks for village use.
A carefully chosen mesh is used to collect fog droplets.
Each large fog collector produces about 200 liters of clean water a day.
FogQuest: Sustainable Water Solutions
How FogQuest Started
FogQuest is a non-profit, registered Canadian charity dedicated to planning and implementing water projects for rural communities in developing countries. We utilize innovative fog collectors as well as effective rainfall collectors to make optimum use of natural atmospheric sources of water.
The frequent requests for projects to provide water in places where conventional sources such as wells, rivers and pipelines were not available, as well as the tremendous interest in the 1998 and 2001 International Conferences on Fog and Fog Collection, led to the formation of FogQuest. FogQuest was founded in the year 2000 by Sherry Bennett and Bob Schemenauer in response to these needs and has become actively engaged in projects and in fund raising since the completion of the second Fog Conference in July 2001. FogQuest builds upon the experience gained in projects conducted since 1987, which, even with limited funding, had shown the viability and effectiveness of using fog collectors to produce clean water for people in the deserts of South America and Africa.

IDEOLOGYThis project would like to pursue “TALL” for utilizing height specificities (temperature, humility, atmosphere, etc) as catalysts for potential vertically-integrated industrial pipelines (urban engines) that will reinvent the high-rise typology programmatically, and initiate a new urban (industrial) revolution. Oppose to the insulating nature of current high-rises, and against homogeneity of "place" (or at least differentiated only by men imposed real-estate values). Height should be a catalyst, not a hindrance; Just as any mountain range’s multitude of habitats, let altitude reign free!
As towers are getting higher and higher, especially for highly-densed location
such as Hong Kong, one would need to realize ends of the tower
are nearly 1 kilometer apart, and their location specificity should not be ignored.
Traditional highrises are locked into a very rigid formality, a core in the middle, surrounded by standardized occupancy, enclosed at perimeter to insulate interior from exterior conditions. This ensures certain level of comfort, yet, it locks living and spaces into homogeneity with no regard to “place”, in this case, height. On the other hand, this project is exploring a new possibility to expose the service core (water in this case) to the perimeter as the enclosure, to encourage interaction with different and varying external conditions.

Elementary school is a remoter school which is located in Taitung, the resources of the school are fairly limited. .
Design Description

Therefore , the school tried using a “wall” to divide a classroom into two different parts for different use, such like counseling classroom and health center.
Unfortunately, because they didn’t pass the fire inspection, the “wall” needed to be destroyed. The school had no choice but they used some bookcases to replace the wall. Old bookcases, overmuch document and books were not designed properly. Because of this proper design, the usability of the original space didn’t work out, and at the same time, it becomes an useless storage place at school.

Reciprocal多為一種封閉的自我循環系統,經過不斷複製(相互支撐)而自動成型, 其整體幾何多半為帄面拱型或球面,這個計畫藉由操作單元體的個體性變異,或於規律法則中嵌入異質元件,詴圖挑戰其整體幾何的一致性可以被演化或變種的可能性。
Reciprocal作為一個形容詞,其直接的字義是描述兩者間以相等量或相似程度的合 作或互惠。結構或構造上,Reciprocal frame用以描述一組由相互支撐的梁形成的 封閉迴圈所構成的結構系統,其在歷史上已長久不可考,但也正驗證了其有效性的 歷時不衰。從原始部落的小屋到文藝復興大師達文西的自支撐橋的設計都見其蹤影。
此一工作營的企圖在條件限制下尋找快速組裝且技術簡易的構築系統,Reciprocal 搭接式的簡易接合,提供了高度的可工作性,加上短構件相互支撐形成大跨距的特 性,為都市環境中因運送而受限的建材尺寸提供了一種可行的出路。竹材則是大環 境下歸結得出的選項之一,源自於其特質的迅速長成(三個月)充分滿足當前永續資 源的訴求,以及台灣這個當地的風土造就竹材的優異品質。

Reciprocal比例模型類型研究竹子模型 四邊形疊法三角邊形疊法 剛開始我們用竹筷子模擬竹子的狀態而在綑綁 的方面使用鐵絲來模擬往後的一比一實做最接 近的材料,從結構方面著手,用互相借力的方 式堆疊循環出這個模型,可用在無任何鐵絲的 固定固定下完成這個模型。 結構雖然有趣但是在這個方式下產生的模型只 能以圓的方式呈現,並不是我們起初預期的開 放性空間,在完成第一階段的實驗後在第二階 段我們想以“單元化”互相堆疊生產出最終的模型 單元化 在這個階段使用了先前的互相借力堆疊概念生 產出以四邊形為基礎的單元及三邊行為基礎的 單元,因為竹子本身是原館的型態所以在戶些 堆疊後有了明顯的起伒在後面會說明竹子與竹 子的矩離和起伒大小的關係。 四邊形的構成方式有四種,其一是順時針(或 逆時針)跨在其他竹子上,而生產出的起伒是 击面,其二為順時針(或逆時針)往下固定在提 他竹子上,而生產出的起伒為凹面,三角形的 構法如同四邊形一樣。 三角形的組構 完成了三邊型的單元開始組構它,依循著原先 的概念一根搭一根,發現了一個大問題,這個 構造它完全沒有力學傳導的功能,他只是免牆 用鐵絲硬綁起來的結構,全部的力量都集中在 固定點上,跟我們原先想像的想法不符,淘汰 掉這個方式。
之後加以變形操作,從面變成體,也能產生出有 趣的形體四邊形組構一樣原理從單元化長成面, 在過程中發現面的曲度會依照著大矩形與小矩形 產生變化,小矩型越小則大矩形就會越大所產生 的曲度也就越曲,單然竹子的粗細也相對影響了 曲度。長到一定程度時,加入了與原版單元相反 的順時針往下搭接的方式,讓曲面有了兩種變化,也更有趣。固定材料實驗 再上斷實驗中我們採用的鐵絲做為綑綁的材料, 它的特點在於可以完全固定住子子與竹子之間, 定型後的變化性變小,以橡皮圈做為固定的材料, 布景工作時間效率提高,定型後的朔性大大提升 許多,可以在佳外力使他的曲度更曲,甚至成了一個管狀物。 模型與實做 在模擬的過程中我們發現到模型與實做上必須解決的問題,那就是一開始的單元構件主要能提供 的反力是垂直方向的反力,當構件與地面越接近 90度時他所提供施反力越小,也就是說它沒有力 學結構上的實質意義,是模型無法得知的 從面至體 在前階段我們從單元接成的曲面進階讓它變成三向度的管狀體,其中發生了幾個問題,第一因為是三向度的管狀體所以在底部接合方面成了一大考驗,仔細看他組構出的大矩形,它以一種旋轉 方式的帶狀呈現,所以我們“硬接”的結果有了小小缺失就是它的其中一個大矩形成了五邊行了。 第二點在實做方面,三向度的管狀體創造出有趣的空間,但也造成了不便如前面所提到的,這種單元再接近90度時因為與原本力學抵抗方向不同 在固定點的地方產生了壞,這是在模型上面無法 得知的,所以在底面的單元節構是毫無意義的, 再行動方面也影響了人的穿梭,在校園裡是不方便的。
