Fonterra New Cheese Plant Opening
The official opening of the new cheese plant took place on Friday 18th August with MP Jaala Pulford
Minister for Agriculture and Regional Development attending the event as guest of honour to unveil the plaque. The Minister was joined by local and international representatives who share an interest in the manufacturing future of the site. Guests on the day included local farmers and community members, suppliers from as far away as Japan, Mr Llewellyn Roberts (NZ Deputy High Commissioner to Australia) and Mr John Wilson (Chairman of the Fonterra Board). Thanks to the patience of the local community, ongoing support from our farmers and the hard work delivered by a mini-city of construction workers, Fonterra is now producing mozzarella in Australia for the first time in more than three years. Stanhope will export its cheese to 25 markets across the world, including China and Japan where our cheese is now featuring on 50% of pizzas and becoming a growing culinary phenomenon.

Expressions of interest The Stanhope cricket club is very keen to field at least one junior side for the coming 2017-18 season. For those who aren’t aware, there are to be major changes in junior cricket this year .The aim of this is to more closely replicate the game at the top level, increasing enjoyment for players, while increasing participation for all players. Some of the changes include reduced pitch length, boundary size and the number of players per team, while equipment will also be more appropriately sized for children. If you think you would be interested in giving the newly revised junior game a shot, come along to our come and try day. If we are able to field a team(s), we have some fantastic people willing to coach, particularly our English international players, who have plenty of junior coaching experience.

Stanhope Service Centre New Operating Hours
Your local Rushworth & District Community Bank is pleased to announce that, as from Monday 4
th
September, we will be introducing two full days of banking facilities each week at the Stanhope Service Centre. Following consultation with our customers, we have revised the opening hours of the Stanhope Customer Service Centre to 9:30 am until 4:00 pm on both Mondays and Thursdays (closed for lunch 12:30 until 1:00 pm). We know that this will make it easier for many customers who may have found it difficult to get to the bank during a shorter working day. Branch Manager, Kevin Livingston, said “being able to help our customers out earlier in the morning and after school will make it more convenient for most people to manage their face-to-face banking needs. Making our services more accessible should enable customers to bank with their local Community Bank at times that may be more convenient to them.” “The Stanhope Service Centre provides access to all Bendigo Bank products, including Rural Bank which is now also servicing Rural Finance customers”, said Kevin, “having our staff available for longer hours gives us the opportunity to increase our business and therefore the return to your Community.” The Community Bank share their profits with the local community. The more you bank with us, the greater the return to your community. Our product range, fees and charges are comparable to other banks, and your money is safe in Bendigo & Adelaide Bank. We are one of Australia’s leading banks. Why wouldn’t you bank with us? Come and see the friendly and helpful staff at the Stanhope Service Centre, open every Monday and Thursday.
Student Banking at Stanhope Service Centre
With Student banking available at the Primary School and the extension of our
hours from 9.30am to 4.00pm Monday and Thursday there is no better time to
encourage saving! Come in and see us about how we can help your kids start saving today.

News from The Mews & Shaque-A-Taque
Shaque-A-Taque is pleased to advise that table tennis is now available in the games room on the mews during daylight hours. The Stanhope Riderz Club has now been formed which hosts our local poker club every Friday and would like to start a 500 club on a Wednesday or Thursday night. The rear of Shaque-A-Taque can now accommodate four overnight caravan spaces which will be slowly landscaped as finance permits. This will also include a small camping area once the old broken bricks are removed. Our third Annual “Imojens Ride” is being organised and will be held on the Labour Day weekend in March 2018. All money raised will again be donated to The Gift. This years’ ride raised over $1600 and we hope to better that next year. For more information on any of these events please come in and see us or phone Belinda on 0432 815 806.

2017 Bridges to Prosperity, Arup & Bechtel Uwimpfizi Project Scott Emmett has just returned to UK from Rwanda where he was involved in the 2017 Bridges to Prosperity, Arup and Bechtel Uwimpfizi Project. Scott was one of five engineers from his company Arup who comprised an overall team of 30 people from Arup, Bechtel, Bridges to Prosperity and the local Nyaruguru community. Thank you so much to everyone who supported this project through the Trivia Night at the Stanhope pub as well as the personal donations which were given. The bridge was built in a very remote corner of the country which produced a number of challenges and required a lot of quick thinking and improvisation. Nevertheless, the project was a great success with the bridge completed a full day early of what was already a tight programme. The new bridge will now allow over 2000 people to cross the bridge every day to safely access essential services. If you would like to see more on how the team got on in Rwanda and learn more about the project, please check out the team’s Flickr page, Facebook page, YouTube channel, or blog via the links shown below. https://www.flickr.com/photos/bridgestoprosperity/albums/72157685470200401
