Description: An event ad for an adoption fair for the Madison County H umane Society.

Date: 10/9/15

Course/Instructor: Comm130 Visual Media Ben Pingel

Programs/Tools: Microsoft Word

Objectives: Create a full bleed design in Microsoft Word. Scanning an image into the design and using an attractive color scheme to highlight the project.

Process: I scanned the image of the dog into Microsoft Word. Using the image as the focal point of the design I created the Ad around the image. I used a split complementary color scheme of purple, teal and gold. I then brought in the American Humane Society Logo to help show the benefactors involvement in the event.

Description: An original logo design for Finder Outfitters.

Date: 10/31/15

Course/Instructor: Comm130 Visual Media Ben Pingel

Programs/Tools: Adobe Illustrator

Objectives: Create a logo design in a vector that can be shown in any size. The Logo needs to have typeography and a good color scheme to match the brand or product.

Process: Using Adobe Illustrator I made the little hiking man. Orignally I had not incorparated him into the design but later added him into the title as the “I.” I framed out the Logo to help make it more identifiable and to help the “Outfitters” pop more.

Description: An orignal brochure for the Winter Solstice Resort.

Date: 12/5/15

Course/Instructor: Comm130 Visual Media Ben Pingel

Programs/Tools: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign

Objectives: Create a full bleed brochure that incorporates a logo, title, text wrap, cut out image, and several other images.

Process: I started in Indesign and created a Logo and Title that matched the idea of a winter resort. I carried the logo and title into Indesign and created a layout that I felt was appealing and constructive to those that might want to know a little more about the mountain. I placed each image in a way that leads your eyes through the brochure. My favorite part is that when the brochure is opened the front and back show one image of a snowboarder at the top of the resort looking out to the mountains across the valley. Nothing says come to the Winter Solstice Resort more than the awe-inspiring views.

Description: A Business Card for Clockwork Productions.

Date: 11/7/15

Course/Instructor: Comm130 Visual Media Ben Pingel

Programs/Tools: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign

Objectives: Create a business card that is simple, appealing, and conveys all the information to contact the person on the business card.

Process: Starting in Adobe Illustrator I created the Clockwork Productions Logo. A simple clock with the first three numbers in roman numerals. I used a simple monochromatic color scheme to give high contrast and good appeal to anyone looking at it.I created the outlines in Indesign and made the layout with a Z-style flow on the font and a full bleed design on the back of the card withe the company logo making a strong and bold statement, “Perfect Time. Perfect Productions.”

Date: 11/7/15

Course/Instructor: Comm130 Visual Media Ben Pingel

Programs/Tools: Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign

Objectives: Create a matching letterhead for the business card I had also created. Use the company logo as a watermark and the conmpany name and contact information in the heading.

Process: Simple process after creating the Logo in Adobe Illustrator. Making the water mark very faint in the background and making the Title and company information “POP” at the top of the page.

Programs/Tools: Adobe Photoshop

Objectives: Create a full bleed design blending two or more images to give an appearance of one image. Learning to use various tools in Photoshop to achieve a seamless image. Incorporate typography and other design elements.

Process: I brought two images of into photoshop and created one image using masking and blending techniques. An image of a damaged wall and an image of Jesus Christ in a biblical story blended together to inspire faith in Jesus Christ. The words are all words that can be associated with Christ and the many miracle he performed throughout his ministry.

Programs/Tools: Text Wrangler - HTML and CSS

Objectives: Code a web page and incorporate design techniques and elements to create an appealing webage.

Process: I started with the HTML code to create the basic code for the web page. After organizing the text and basic elements of the page I incorporated a CSS code file into the HTML code to create the design elements to make the webpage more appealing. I incorporated the color of the logo into the webpage to make it flow and feel organized and collected.

Date: 10/3/15

Course/Instructor: Comm130 Visual Media Ben Pingel

Programs/Tools: Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign

Objectives: Using the elements provided (picture, text, and title), create a flier using the design elements taught in class.

Process: I first took the image to photoshop and cut the people out of the original image. I really wanted to emphasize the importance of a professional appearnce and the professionalism that comes with a leadership conference. I then carried the image into Adobe InDesign and made a unique design to help spread awareness about the event.

Description: A picture that I took incorporated into a basic design.

Date: 10/17/15

Course/Instructor: Comm130 Visual Media Ben Pingel

Programs/Tools: Adobe Photoshop

Objectives: Use an original photo and create a good design using a color scheme and design principals from Visual Focus.

Process: I used Adobe Photoshop to edit the photo I took of the physics books. I used basic color modifying tools and then cut the books out of the image to create a focus on the books rather than the room that was in the original image. I then created a background design and then added a unique quote that I had heard while interviewing some of the physics majors.
