    Austin Vaughan, 85, of Kerrville and Silsbee, died Sunday, June 30, 2019. He was born on January 19, 1934, in Soper, Oklahoma, to Vira Mae Stillwell and Eldon Campbell Vaughan. Austin worked for Amarillo Police Department from May 1962 until September 1967. He then worked for Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission from September 1967 until March 1983. Austin was a member of the Silsbee Masonic Lodge #927, Silsbee Chapter #298 of the Order of Eastern Star, and an El Mina 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason.

    Austin was awarded the Kerr County Peace Officer of The Year in 1976. As a long-time member of the Kerr County Livestock Show, the Livestock Show was dedicated to him in 1981. He was a founding member of the Kerrville Music Festival Foundation and was voted a lifetime honorary member. In 1983, the Blue Grass Festival was dedicated to him. In 2010, he was awarded the Golden Trowel by the Masonic Lodge in Silsbee.

    Survivors include his wife, Jackie Vaughan, of Kerrville; children, Sharon Tremper and her husband, Chip, of Ingram; Curt Vaughan and his wife, Roxan, of Cave Creek, Arizona; and Tim Vaughan, of Mesa, Arizona; stepchildren, Donovan Keith Maloy, Jr., and his wife, Robbie; Terryl Lynn Maloy; and Kathleen Maloy Stutz and her husband, Philip, all of Mauriceville; twelve grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Monroe Vaughan and Clovis Vaughan; and sister, Geneva Boland.

    Austin is preceded in death by his parents; wife, JoNell Vaughan; brother, Raymond Vaughan; and sister, Mildred Sherman.
