The foundation also owns the shares of Aurora Group Capital inc. whereby all the investments for the American Fund will be placed. Why is Aurora Group investing in Portugal?Portugal is a very attractive country, especially the Algarve in the south of the country which has over 300 days of sun per annum and one of the best climate conditions in the world. Why choose Portugal and not Spain?I believe that Spain is a very attractive place, but I personally like the calm and attractive countryside, and the lower density of construction in Portugal, particularly the coastal regions of the country. The real

Located by the coast, and washed by the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the south, Portugal has long been considered as one of the entry gates to Europe. The Ocean project is located in Carvoeiro, near Lagoa, roughly 30 minutes from Faro, the regional capital and site of the nearest international airport.

This picturesque fishing village, with a long history of settlement, has grown over the last decades into the main tourist area of the region. It has a number of fine beaches protected by cliffs. The difference between Carvoeiro and most other coastal towns is that development has been outwards rather than upwards.

There are no high rises and most of the development has been sympathetic to the landscape. The accommodation in the area is predominantly low-rise tourist accommodation and Carvoeiro has traditionally appealed to families looking for a relatively quiet area with a good range of commercial and recreational facilities.

These days, thanks to a permanent population of over 5,000 and the off-season tourists drawn by golf courses and other facilities, many establishments stay open year round.

Another important improvement is in the basic infrastructure: roads have been surfaced, main drains extended to outlying areas; there is a medical centre, supermarkets and a whole range of upgraded facilities in nearby Lagoa.
