Saline Nebuliser Solution

The hypertonic saline nebuliser solution from Aurena Laboratories exerts an osmotic effect in the lower respiratory tract to influence mucus directly. The actions result in a higher clearance of the mucus by lowering viscosity and increasing mucociliary clearance. This is especially valuable for patients with persistent mucus accumulation, as in cases of acute bronchiolitis, cystic fibrosis, COPD and bronchiectasis.Hypertonic saline works by breaking of ionic bonds within the mucus gel, which lowers viscosity and elasticity and shields negative charges in the mucus. This results in a more compact macromolecule, therefore, a more effective mucus clearance. The osmotic flow of water rehydrates the mucus, which improves rheology.

This product may be used in all age groups.

The treating physician should always be consulted before mixing the solution with other medications, since there is a possibility of cross reactions if medications are mixed with hypertonic saline. Such reactions can decrease the effectiveness of the treatment.

Intended use: Increase clearance of mucus in the lower respiratory tract, by osmotic effect, in patients with persistent mucus accumulation, as in cases of acute bronchiolitis, cystic fibrosis, COPD and bronchiectasis.
