PartI‐AttendanceAttendanceRequirementsAttendance(Ref:BoardPolicyJE,JHB)TheGoverningBoardbelievesthattheattainmentofacademicexcellencerequiresattendanceonaregularbasis.Attendanceistheresponsibilityofthestudentsandparents;studentsmayfailclassesorpromotionmaybewithheldifthisrequirementisnotmet.LegalRequirementsArizonalawARS§15‐803Arequiresstudentstoattendschoolfromtheagesof6to16.AbsencePoliciesAttendanceisEssentialRegularattendanceisthekeytomuchofthesuccessastudentmaygainfromhis/herschoolprogram.Studentsshouldremainoutofschoolonlywhenabsolutelynecessary,asmuchoftheclassroomactivitycannotbemadeup; the benefit of lectures, discussion and participation is lost forever to those who are absent. ThepurposeoftheSharkBadgeistoholdstudentsaccountableandresponsiblefortheirlearning,regardingcompletionofhomework,activeparticipationduringclasstimeandbehavioronschoolgrounds.TheSharkBadgeisacommunicationtoolforparentstostayinformedinordertoprovidesupportfortheirchildwhereneeded.Ourexpectationisthatstudents,parents,teachersandstaffuseinformationfromtheSharkBadgetoensurestudentsaresuccessful.SharkBadgeExpectations:
