Good Wednesday to you from Costa Rica,

Last night at 11:23, I was awakened by a shaking house with a 6.3 magnitude earthquake

near the border with Panama. Most of the jolts we get are short but this one wasn’t. It was

long enough that you wonder if you should run for cover. Then it was over. I have not heard

of any damages, but the mountains areound me are alive. We have a number of active vol-

canos too. My study looks across the valley to the Poas volcano and every once in a while I

    see a small plume arising.

    Psalm 46 reminds us:

    1. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

    2. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart

    of the sea.

    3. Though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

In the last week, I sat and prayed with a friend who sought refuge in the Lord as he slowly

slipped into glory. The Lord was his refuge and strength through a multiple year journey

with cancer. I can identify with this very personally!

Another friend suffered a mild heart attack, he too is trusting our good Father as he seeks

treatment in the States. Many of the refugees I meet are learning to find their refuge in the

Lord in a new land. I pray that you too will have no fear no matter what you may be going

    through.

Thank you so much for your ongoing prayers and support. Pray that the Lord will continue to

use me and open even more doors. There are plenty of troubles in this world. God is our

    refuge and strength!

In Christ our hope, Don Ridder
