August Course Update
Chestatee Management would like
to introduce Jeff Losee as our new
Golf Course Superintendent
Jeff was born in Annapolis,
Maryland and later moved to
Alpharetta, GA when his father, an
Eastern Airlines’ Captain
transferred their family to Atlanta.
Jeff graduated from Milton High School. He fell in love with golf in his
late teens.
He began working as a cart guy at the Trophy Club. He actually
worked at Chestatee Golf Club on our maintenance staff from 2007 to
2010.
Jeff graduated from North Georgia Technical College with an Associate
Degree of Applied Science in Turf and Golf Course Maintenance.
After graduation, he worked as Assistant Superintendent at the Manor
Golf & Country Club for 4 years.
Jeff re-joined our staff as Andrew Maronge’s Assistant Superintendent
in February of 2017. Andrew had high hopes and great accolades for
Jeff. Andrew told our general manager, Cheryl Howard, that “Jeff
Losee was the best assistant that he has ever hired in all his
years as superintendent”.
Jeff has served on the Assistant Golf Course Superintendent Commit-
tee for the GCCSA for 2 years.
Jeff and his lovely Finance Kenna, have a 2 year old son named Jeffrey
and 9 month old son named Jacob.
Please join us in welcoming Jeff to our Chestatee family. He has all of
our support for a successful career at Chestatee Golf Club.
Golf News from Our Head Golf
Professional
The Dog days came early in July; let’s hope for a cooler August!!
I would like to take a minute and thank our own Andrew Mills and Mike Pritchett
for their efforts with our junior camps. I received many complements on job well
done from the parents of the children.
Please know that both Andrew and Mike offer great quality golf lessons for all
skill levels.
For the last few months we have monitoring players posting scores for handicap.
Last year, after every month we would audit the tee sheet and look at who played
and if they posted and if a scorecard was turned in to match the round posted.
Then I would send out an email to each person reminding them of what was miss-
ing or posting mistakes made.
I am happy to say that this year, Joe Eberhard and the committee have done a
fantastic job narrowing the margin for errors.
I would also like to thank Assistant Professional, Mike Pritchett with the
daunting task of auditing the records each month.
At our last Handicap Committee meeting it was decided that we would send out
notice to all handicap members to reiterate how proper posting works and what is
accepted as proper posting procedures.
We have decided as a group that the probationary period is over, to allow
improper posting. The Handicap Committee will assess penalty scores to those
that continue to make posting errors.
Handicap Committee Chairman, Joe Eberhard has taken the time to write a great
notice on proper posting and how to do it.
Please take the time to read his letter, and understand the steps needed for prop-
er posting.
Chestatee Golf Club Members:
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank each and every Member who has been diligent in the score
posting process at Chestatee Golf Club. Through periodic review of the score posting system, it has
come to the attention of the Handicap Committee that a number of posting violations have occurred in
recent months. Following are the requirements relative to posting scores and allowing for proper Hand-
icap Committee and Peer review of those scores:
Scorecard
List players by First and Last Name
Date the scorecard at the bottom right
Indicate which tees are being played by each player
Total the score of each player on the right side of the card
Have the scorecard Signed and Attested
TURN THE SCORECARD IN AT THE BOX BY THE ENTRANCE TO THE PRO SHOP
(it is every player’s responsibility to see that their scorecard is turned in)
Posting your score
All Home and Away scores must be posted within 48 hours of play and prior to the next
revision date in the posting computer located in the Golf Pro Shop or through the GHIN
posting system online
It is the individual player’s responsibility to insure their scores are posted accurately within
the prescribed time frame
All Home Tournament scores will be posted by the Pro Shop as “T” scores
All Away Tournament scores should be posted as “T” scores
It is not the Committee’s intent to penalize Members because of a possible oversight, however, it is the
Committee’s responsibility to all Members to do whatever we can to encourage respectful adherence to
the spirit of the USGA Handicap System. Periodic reviews will continue to assure all Members post
their scores in the proper manner within 48 hours of their round of play. Future posting violations
may result in a Penalty Posting to your recorded scores as recommended by the USGA Handi-
cap System.
Thank you for your continued support of Chestatee Golf Club and for your contributions in protecting
the integrity of the USGA Handicap System.
Please feel free to contact the Handicap Committee via email to either Joe Eberhard at email address:
[email protected] or Todd Gilgrist at email address:
Respectfully,
Chestatee Golf Club Handicap Committee
