Fundraising Ethics
Everyone who belongs to AFP must sign and abide by the AFP Code of Ethical Principles and Standards. Does that mean every member’s ethical performance is identical? We need to continue conversations and assessment so we all make better decisions
when challenging questions are posed and continue on our journey to be the most ethical practitioners we can be.
Presenter: Paul Pribbenow, Ph.D., CFRE, commentator and teacher on ethics, philanthropy and American public life
Location: U of M Alumni Center, 635 Normal StreetFree to AFP Members; $10 for Non-Members

Ten Star Chapter
1. Full name (people know you as)? Amy Beth Dudley
2. Date & place of birth? September 19 in Greenville, Mississippi
3. How long have you lived in the area? I grew up Corinth so I’ve been around the
area for a long time. I’ve officially been in Memphis – off and on – since 1995.
4. Occupation? Director of Volunteers and Special Events for the Salvation Army
5. Who was your most influential role model? My mother
6. Favorite place to go, favorite trip, hike, etc.? I love any beach but London is my all time favorite destination.
7. Favorite local business? Lots of them but the one I frequent the most is Bari. Also: Peria, Joseph,
Restaurant Iris, Muddy’s – the list goes on and on!
8. Favorite food? Any cheese
9. Favorite book? Anything about British history and culture – fiction or nonfiction
10. Favorite movie? The Sound of Music (I’ve been on the tour – it’s awesome!)
11. What do you waste your money on? Shopping. And wine. And dinners out.
12. What is the craziest & most adventurous thing you have done? Drive the north 240 loop to work every day.
Also, moving to London right after college with no job. It changed my life!
13. What is your fondest memory? Volunteering with my mom as a small child.
14. If you could change one thing about Memphis what would it be? A small thing would be littering. It
drives me nuts to see so much trash (cans, cups, etc) at intersections and on medians. A big thing would be
continuing to address our infant mortality rate. It’s simply too high and is symptomatic of much larger issues
in our community.
15. What do you think makes Memphis a good place to live? Everything! We have a vibrant arts scene, a low
cost of living and really nice people. That’s a pretty perfect place to live!
16. Tell me about one hidden Memphis treasure others should know about? Jackson Avenue Corned Beef
House.
17. What do you do to de-stress? Laugh with my friends.
18. If you were to try any other profession for one day, what would it be? I’ve always wanted to be a national
park ranger. On horseback, of course.
19. What is one fundraising best practice you can share with AFP membership? This is really simple but be
nice and honest. All the time. It’s harder than it sounds!
20. Complete this sentence: Amy Beth is laughing, bossy, the person you want to sit next to and really superior
at running a meeting.
Each newsletter we like to get to know one of our members a little better through a series of 20 questions. This month, Amy Beth Dudley shares a few details on both a personal and professional level.
